We visited Ourlog Coffee Roasters for a late breakfast, and even at that hour, a modest line had formed â a testament to its reputation. The ordering process was easy and relaxed, and the cafĂ©âs contemporary concrete-minimalist interior exuded a calm, design-forward ambiance that felt both curated and casual.
We ordered the matcha latte with espresso (a matcha-espresso fusion), which was visually stunning with its green base, dark crema layer, and a perfect float of microfoam. Taste-wise, it was exceptional â gently sweet with earthy matcha notes harmonizing with the bold espresso. Balanced, silky, and highly memorable.
The baked goods were equally impressive. The cinnamon roll was among the best Iâve had â fluffy yet substantial, swirled generously, with icing in every bite. Unlike many versions back home in Australia, this roll wasnât overly dense or dry. It struck that elusive midpoint between indulgent and restrained.
The custard cream shiopan was a revelation. Wrapped in a crackly custard crust and filled with light, mildly sweet custard, each bite delivered crispness, creaminess, and richness in one. The texture contrast was sublime, and despite its richness, it never felt too heavy.

The pour-over/V60 is preferred, which is promising, but Iâve found the Japanese approach to coffee too subtle: only lighter roasts available, too little beans added- so itâs closer to tea. Sometimes I want to be kicked hard with my caffeine!
At Ourlog, I got an extra shot iced latte. It was divine. The coffee holds its own anywhere. The drink didnât need the extra shot but I liked the strength. The whole experience was helped by the great music and classy industrial atmosphere. A first-class all round experience.
Nb. Humour yourself looking at the bad reviews for Ourlog. Thereâs no pleasing...

Only one bread was left when I got the seat ( which i was a party of 2). Who would spend 40min in a queue for just a coffee? ( the coffee is good but not worths 40min waiting ) I would just grab a coffee takeaway if I knew there was no...
