We stumbled across this sushi restaurant after being rejected by two restaurants near by because we didn’t make a booking in advance. We were very grateful that it turns out to be a very pleasant dining experience.
The chef serves us is a skilful, seasoned and humorous guy. He speaks reasonably good English so we have a bit of chat during the meal. He definitely knows how to make their customers happy - not only he poured a full whole glass of wine for my friend, he recommended us to try a type of fish by giving each of us a free sushi. Rest of the staff and local customers sitting next to us are also very welcoming.
We have a pleasant evening at Sushi Gyosai. All the sushis we have are fresh and delicious. Would have ordered more dishes if we had not booked the yakuniku for supper the same night 😆.
Highly recommend this restaurant to those who are keen to experience the authentic food culture and hospitality...
Read moreHad the BEST omakase of my life here and I’ve had a quite a few. It was the only omakase that had the right pacing and quantity for me. I get full really easily and requested less rice and the chef followed through. My favorite was the scallop! The chef and his employees treated me very kindly and were great in servicing me for my last dinner in Japan. Everything tasted so fresh and was even better than at the markets and I went to all 3 major ones (Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto). The chef was also very communicative despite the language barrier. There is an English menu and one employee who speaks perfect English. I recall her saying she works Tuesdays so see if you can catch her! I plan to come here again next time I’m in Japan. I’m thankful to have had the chance...
Read moreCool local sushi restaurant, that’s drawing more foreign tourists with these 5 star Google reviews, and that’s how I stumbled into it. Really delicious fresh sushi and sashimi! Friendly sushi chef and staff. Highly recommend!
I personally did splurge and ate a lot of chutoro, abalone, Hokkaido scallops, salmon, and I had a set of chef special sushi and a set of chef special sashimi. Total damage was $50, ¥7800, easily over $150 if I had something comparable at home. They take Amex, but not Visa! So bring an Amex if you want to pay with a...
