TRATTORIA AL POMPIERE — Restaurant in Osaka

Disclaimer, I'm from the NYC area and have had my share of Italian food. But on vacation, one of my family members really craved it, so on short notice, here we went. 1st red flag....place was mostly empty on a Saturday night. Had 2 pizzas to share and everyone ordered a pasta dish. The tomato-based pastas appeared watery and had no flavor whatsoever (and unfortunately didn't offer any cheese or pepper to season). I had the Japanese black beef with mushroom pasta which was just ok, but the pizzas and everything else was subpar. On top of that, the portions were ultra small. In addition, they kinda screwed up one of our orders, which made one of our people wait about 15 min for their dish after everyone else was served theirs. And they brought out the shareable pizza after the pastas were brought, but thats all semantics I guess. We spent 2 weeks in Japan and this was the only poor meal we've had, so that might speak volumes about this place. So sad I wasted tummy space on...

Speaking as tourist, we were craving Italian one night while traveling and tried this restaurant. It was the worst Italian food we have ever had. We ordered the Risotto and an Asparagus pasta dish that came with some fish. The Risotto flavor was completely off, to be honest I don’t know what taste they were trying to achieve but we could not swallow more that two bites. The fish in the pasta dish smelled so strong of fish we knew it was not fresh. We pushed the fish to the side and ate the pasta out of pure hunger.

We were one of three occupied tables in the entire restaurant yet the wait staff never came to check how we were doing or to notice that the risotto was not even eaten.

Maybe this restaurant is meant only for the local taste pallet,...
