I would give this 10 stars if I could! We're from San Francisco and this is some of the best food we've ever had, period. We tried a few other places nearby and nothing came even close in terms of quality, atmosphere, service, and overall experience. We had the...
Gyoza (6 pieces) - Simple and delicious, perfectly fried on one side. Salmon Sashimi - Very fresh and tasty, best we had in Rusutsu. Chicken Curry (w/ Egg) - Tons of flavor, highly recommend. Rotisserie Chicken - Basic but very moist with a flavorful dry rub. We definitely don't regret it but would probably get other more traditional dishes first. Glazed Fried Chicken - Wow, 4 big pieces lightly fried and the quality of the chicken is exceptional. Rusutsu Pork Rice Bowl - One big piece of perfectly cooked pork belly that melts in your mouth on top of rice with an egg on the side. Perfect as a main dish or to share! Cheesecake - Light, fluffy, and flavorful. Amazing.
We ate here twice during our stay. They did take a few walk-ins but you should make a reservation if you can. We can't recommend this...
Read moreThis restaurant is just a short walk from Rusutsu Resort, which made it convenient to get to. Upon arriving, we were greeted by friendly and fast service, which set the tone for the rest of the meal.
For our meal, we ordered a variety of dishes including Gyoza, sashimi, roasted chicken, and a mixed hot pot in spicy miso soup. Each dish was delicious and expertly prepared. The sashimi in particular stood out to me as it was incredibly fresh and full of flavor. The roasted chicken was also a hit, and the spicy miso hot pot was a perfect choice for a colder day. We also had the grilled oyster, which was fantastic.
For dessert, we tried the Basque cheese cake, which was absolutely delicious. It was creamy and rich, and the perfect ending to our meal.
Overall, the food was good, the service was friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere was comfortable...

We felt uncomfortable throughout and debated leaving while waiting. We tried to give benefit of the doubt and stayed, and that's our mistake; we should've stated our discomfort with the health & safety problems with a visibly sick chef and walked out.
2 days later, most of our group are down and out with a respiratory infection.
This is an egregious offense for a restaurant to disregard basic health & safety concerns for the public. I am irate; we will be filing an...
