Youtei is a new hostel (just opened in December 2019), located very close to the Rusutsu resort and is about a 5mins walk to the gondola and lifts. The location is awesome! The owner and staffs are super friendly and fun. I really like how they are constantly making updates to the hostel each day based on comments and reviews by customers. On my first day, they updated all the beds with a plywood platform and an additional mattress based on comments from other guests. I found the beds to be very comfortable and have been sleeping very well each night. On my 2nd day, they brought in a fridge, electric kettle, and microwave for us to use. On the 3rd day, there was a coffee machine station provided in the morning. Today, I came back from skiing to find new pillows and a toaster oven for breakfast! The hostel even provides free towels for showers. Kudos to these guys for striving to improve their operations. Considering the options for lodging around Rusutsu, this place is great value and the location can’t be beat. Looking forward to seeing all the new updates on...

Reservations are recommended or early dining as the few dining options in the area fill up quickly. Service is friendly but gets easily overwhelmed with multiple tables ordering which is why self cooking options are so popular in this area.
Credit cards are accepted (although bills can’t be split) and seating is...
