Il Chianti Cocoon City — Restaurant in Saitama

Visited for lunch when I saw they had soft shell crab on the menu. It’s located at Cocoon Mall, but once inside it doesn’t feel like a mall establishment.

Be prepared to wait outside of inside fills up and make sure you get a number. Once you have you number depending on the wait time there is a QR code on the paper that will give an estimate for when you can return.

The restaurant is quite quaint and has a relaxed vibe. The staff is friendly and attentive.

For lunch, you can only visit the salad bar once. So make sure you get your fill before returning to your table. There’s a decent assortment of vegetables and dressing for your salad. So don’t eat to much an save room for the main course.

As mentioned I had the soft shell crab and my wife had the Midnight Pasta. The SSC was properly cooked and came with a peanut sauce which was pleasantly surprising. The pasta was also full of flavor and was almost like a soup.

The meals also came with bread or rice. We had the bread to soak up the sauces.

And it coffee was good and strong which was a great cap to a very fine meal. Definitely hope to...

I enjoyed a wonderful meal here at the holidays with my wife and daughter. My wife has dietary restrictions being both gluten and dairy free. The wait staff guided her through the menu letting her know what was safe for her to order and double checking with the kitchen on some items. There was plenty to choose from from the extensive menu and the food was delicious. The wine list also had a lot to choose from and we settled on an Italian white that was reasonable in price but a perfect accompaniment to our food. The huge menu is ridiculous and daunting when you're just trying to find something to eat. Everything is just written out on one giant sheet.
