During my recent visit to Sapporo, I had the opportunity to dine at a popular fish market restaurant. The restaurant was located within one of the well-known fish markets in Sapporo, known for its wide variety of fresh seafood. Among the numerous fish vendors, I found a particular stall that offered on-site preparation and dining. I knew that the seafood here would undoubtedly be fresh.
This restaurant stood out as the largest within the bustling fish market. I noticed the walls adorned with autographs from various celebrities, which added a touch of charm to the place. Excitedly, I placed an order for a seafood rice bowl, scallop sashimi, and a grilled fish dish called "Ichinichi Kan" (meaning "overnight dried").
The scallop sashimi and seafood rice bowl were exceptionally fresh. The sashimi was of top-notch quality, with the scallops practically melting in my mouth. The seafood rice bowl was a delightful combination of fresh sashimi on a bed of rice. The only slight criticism I had was that the rice was hot.
However, the highlight of my meal was the grilled fish. It was hands down the best grilled fish I have ever had. The aroma was enticing, and the fish retained its juiciness and tender texture. The flavors were well-balanced, with the essence of fish oil enhancing the overall taste. It was perfectly cooked, ensuring the meat remained moist and succulent.
If you have the chance to visit Sapporo, I highly recommend exploring the fish markets and indulging in a meal at one of the on-site restaurants. The opportunity to savor the freshest seafood, like the delectable scallop sashimi and the mouthwatering grilled fish, is an experience not...
Read moreHorrible service. I came to Hokkaido at least once a year. Been to this place many times. Every time I will have lunch in their restaurant when I go. Today I went again as usual. Wasn’t as many people this morning and it was about 11am. Went in no one is willing to come serve or ask what we looking for. There is a young guy talking to a woman both are staff in the shop. So I approached them and ask if we could pick some sea food and dine in as usual. The young guy came over to me and I point him at the Kinki fish and ask if we can pick this and dine in. He start speak Japanese as usual. So I nicely said in Japanese, 英語でできますか? He then respond rudely and in perfect English saying “Sorry I do not speak English.” I almost think he is study in US or UK as his English is almost perfect. He then speak Japanese again and I think he meant if I have a table yet in a rude way. I want to say I have been here many times and I always find someone in the seafood area and tell him what kind of seafood I want then they will walk me to the restaurant. This guy obviously do not want to do business with foreigner. Keep in mind they have a lot of tourist here all these years. This is the most rude service I ever had in Japan. So I decide to walk out and I will never come to this restaurant again. Feel regret I came here over 6 times all these years I came to Hokkaido. Rubbish restaurant worth no...
Read moreI arrived at about 11am and did not have to queue. The seafood on display on the 1st floor is for takeaway only. Dining in is on the second floor and you order there. We ordered two regular bowls, two crab soups and sweet shrimp. Total bill was 9740¥.
We were told that they had sold out on the good hairy crabs and were left with some that were not entirely up to par - missing legs, less meat etc. I appreciated the candour. They could have sold subpar crabs and i doubt we would have known.
Onto the bowls itself, i got a chutoro and uni bowl. The uni was really average. There were one or two pieces that were duds (had a bit of a "stink"), and for the rest, they were just slightly sweet but lacked the distinct creaminess of good uni. Uni aside, i felt the chutoro was inferior being slightly greyish in color. I've never had chutoro like that. But anyway, it didn't smell so it was probably fresh but just not from the best quality fish. I ate it and was fine (didnt get sick). Texture wise it is what you would expect from chutoro, but it was accompanied by an unfortunately sourish aftertaste.
When i left at 12nn+ the place was quite crowded.
For the price point i think this is below average. If you are looking for quality this is not it. It is also not cheap so not worth patronizing (insofar as the kaisendon is concerned, i didnt try their crabs).
Mcc is...
