Ramen Tetsuya — Restaurant in Sapporo

Me and my friends just arrived at Sapporo and it was -6 degrees outside. We try to go in the ramen shop near our place, but they didn’t accept us with an unpleasant face said that me and my friends have to wait as the table is not fit 4 of us at the moment. So they told us to wait outside the shop and ask us to move aside from the front door step while the temperature outside was dropping. I saw the man roiling his eyes while talking to us.😅💔

We couldn’t wait outside just for ramen in that temperature, so we walk away to look for a new ramen shop nearby. I don’t know if I just the store was that busy or the shop was just racist, even I am Asian just...

I won’t recommend for Westerners. There is a really strong smell. the bamboo root seasoning. Not the bamboo root, what itself it’s a healthy, very delicious vegetable, but at Tetsuya ( and other few ramen shops) it is flavored with that rotten like awful seasoning. Off course for local people it’s fantastic ramen. They love it! Since ten years in Japan I really try to learn what is good in that rotten smell, but I did not achieved yet the goal to enjoy...

It’s a big bowl. The broth is on the salty side, so if you like salty food, this will be it. We had miso ramen. I would suggest the shop to have options for less salty and also smaller servings. That would be great. Service was good. We came early before the banner was up. The workers were polite to explain that we had to wait till 11:00am.
