Kizuna Coffee — Restaurant in Sapporo

Definitely come here if you’re nearby, it’s worth a 15-20 walk anyways just to meet the owner. He speaks English well enough to comfortably order and have a conversation, and he helped us so many times over the course of our trip, helping us research things for our stay and to offer recommendations around Sapporo.

The food is amazing and is really well priced. Coffee is some of the best I’ve had in Japan and the cafe has two entire pages of their menu dedicated to a flavor breakdown of their different beans/roasts. Only thing you could say is negative is that the menu is only in Japanese, but plenty of pictures and the owner explains everything without you needing to ask. Kizuna Coffee is the reason why I enjoy living in Sapporo. It is also one of the few coffee shops open before 10am. The ten different coffees are each exquisite with a variety of flavors. The master hand picks and examines every bean used in his coffees, removing all beans that are damaged or flawed. The food available from breakfast to dinner is all delicious and the daily are all served with drinks included. I assumed it would be a refined coffee experience but I was wrong. The coffee was not special at all and the breakfast set was also mid. I would say it didn’t cost much tho. The coffee had no aromatics and bacon was over cooked. I love how the owner takes it personally when taste can be a subjective matter. I don’t understand why he tries to pull it into a whole Japan issue versus the individual places I review.
