Rokkatei Maruyama shop — Restaurant in Sapporo

Last week both my wife and I separately visited the Maruyama Shop, and the kindness of the staff comes close to the fabulous flavors of their cakes and cookies. My wife uses a cane and after shopping, asked where the best spot to catch a cab was. Rather than simply telling her, one of the clerks went out and hailed a cab for her. On another trip I went into the store on a rainy day just as the skies opened. When I started to leave one of the clerks handed me an umbrella. I explained it would be a day or two before I could return it, and she replied, when I had time was fine. My wife grew up about 3 blocks from this shop, and we have been going there on all of our visits from the states. Can't wait until Rokkatei bring their great products and service to the USA. Go to this store and get your heart and stomach filled...

Boutique au rez de chaussé et salon de thé/restaurant à l'étage. L'établissement est calme au style épuré, propre et bien tenu. Le personnel était très accueillant malgré mon très mauvais niveau de japonais; une femme de l'équipe est venue pour prendre ma commande d'un très bon ragoût de bœuf en anglais avec un sourire. J'étais un homme seul mais j'ai remarqué que les clientes pouvaient poser leurs sacs sur des outils spécialement conçus.

Shop on the ground floor and tea room/restaurant upstairs. The establishment is quiet, clean and well kept. The staff were very welcoming despite my very poor Japanese; a female member of staff came to take my order for a very good beef stew in English with a smile. A long-established store and very famous sweets from Hokkaido Prefecture. 1st floor is Japanese confectionary store and 2nd floor is their cafe and restaurant. At restaurant,「Hayashi rice (Hashed beef rice)」and 「Beef stew」are popular, and they make these simmering for 2wks. I love those. A higly recommended. I like Japanese pancake, custard pudding, castella, and mochi rice with sweet bean paste. Also, dried strawberry chocolate is good too....
