Tonkatsu Tamafuji Sapporo Tokyu Branch — Restaurant in Sapporo

I recently had a great dining experience at とんかつ玉藤 札幌東急店. The restaurant is conveniently located within a mall, making it easily accessible for anyone visiting the area.

We visited on a Sunday in Apr 2025 at around 5 PM and were seated immediately. The service was excellent; the staff were very attentive and promptly refilled our water glasses without us having to ask.

The tonkatsu is prepared fresh to order, and arrived at our table within 10 minutes. The crust is exceptionally crispy and flaky, thanks to the use of freshly ground breadcrumbs and a generous coating of the meat. You can really hear that satisfying "crunch crunch crunch" when you bite into it! The pork loin was both juicy and lean, and tasted delicious even without any dipping sauce. They also offer a choice of different types of rice and soup, which is a nice touch. I also appreciated that the oil they used for frying seemed very clean. Plus, the rice and water are free refills! We also ordered tempura which was a generous size.

The only minor point is that the miso soup might be a bit salty for those who prefer a milder flavor. At the end of the meal, we were served a complimentary cup of roasted tea, which was a lovely way to finish.

It’s conveniently located at the dining hall of the Tokyu mall. We had our last meal before heading to the airport here since it was near our hotel.

Service was excellent. So far it was one of the best services I’ve had here in Japan. The Servers were all old ladies and they were very kind and explained to us the menu and even suggested we get the lunch set instead of their ordinary menu since it would be cheaper for the same item. We were informed by pur server that we could choose your soup and rice and that rice and cabbage were refillable. They don’t usually inform us that things were refillable I usually only find out through reviews or from fellow diners. Tonkatsu was great I can see them make it infront of me. There aren't enough stars in the rating system for this restaurant. I would give it 6 if possible. It's in a department store so the atmosphere was nice. The friendly hostess gave us wet towels while we were waiting. When we were seated there were additional wet towels. The staff were all every nice and explained everything. Despite the language barrier we understood them. I got the tenderloin and shrimp combo. The food came pretty quickly. The staff explained clearly how to use the condiments. The first impression of the tonkatsu was wow, it looked really crispy. The first bite confirmed it. The crunch was unparalleled and the pork was tender and juicy. It's the best tonkatsu we ever had.
