Cafe MythiQue — Restaurant in Sendai

This place is a bit hidden but if you follow Google maps it takes you pretty much to the front door.

It's just past the entrance to the covered shopping street and there is a small doorway that will lead you up to this cafe in the second floor.

There is no English menu but there is displays where you can point to what you want.

We went around 3pm and there wasn't a lot of people there but after sitting for half an hour there was a queue. So don't go at peak times.

There's a lot of cakes smoothies and coffee's to choose from but the prices displayed doesn't include tax.

Everything looks great and tempting but we went specially for the 3d coffee which looks fantastic and taste's not bad though on the small side for the money but it's more for Instagram than drinking. It costs 702 yen .

Looooved this place! When I went it was almost empty, which I think is not usually the case as they have signs on every table stating not to stay longer than 1.5h (if I remember correctly) when it is crowded. And I'm not surprised- they serve some really interesting cakes that look beautiful. I had such a hard time choosing that I plan to go back tomorrow :)

You order at the counter and pay before sitting down, which makes it very convenient (as you can see the cakes and immediately choose and order).

I had the blue jewel cake today, paired with a tea latte. They also have some beautiful smoothies in several different flavors that I would love to try.

仙台に住む娘を訪れた際に、 ブルージュエルという、青いケーキを食べてみたいと、立ち寄りました。

ブルーベリーの青色を、上手に使ったケーキです。 うっとりするような、紺碧♥

娘は、ショーケースをのぞいて、 対照的なルビー色の真っ赤なケーキを、選びました。（今は、別の商品に変わったようです。美味しかったので、残念…。） これは、イチゴ、ベリーの赤だったかな。

2つとも、円形で、つやつや滑らかに、 光沢があるムースケーキ。 中にジュレが入っており、それをムース層が包んでいます。 私は、ムースケーキ大好きおばさん、なので、嬉しかったです。 2人で半分ずつシェアして頂いたのですが、美味しくて、ペロッと、あっというまに平らげてしまいました。 人気のとおり、味はとても美味しかったです。

1つ、よくわからなかったのは、 赤いケーキには、金色の歯車みたいなのが載っていました…これは、何の意味？ 赤が映えるから？ その下に小さな四角いチョコが。

青いケーキのほうも、長~い細い杖みたいなチョコの棒が、真ん中にささっています。 それと、小さなキャラみたいな？人形みたいなのが、座っています。白いクリームで表現された…。

これは、ちょっと？と思ってしまいました。 何か意味があるのなら、ごめんなさい。 青いケーキのブルーベリーの群青が、 とてもキレイなので、 白を入れると引き立つからなのですかね？ でも、私の感覚からすると、 せっかくのシックな群青色のケーキが、 かなり、子供っぽい感じになってしまって、少々残念。（すみません。）

こちらのお店には、黒い（茶色い？）キャラ顔みたいなチョコケーキがあるようなので、ユーモラスというか… それに近いノリです。

お子様を意識されたんだろうと思いますが、 ブルージュエルに関しては、 シックな大人向けケーキ路線のほうが、 持ち味のステキな群青色が活きたかな？、と。 あんな素敵な輝く群青色のケーキ、 他に見たことないですから。 このお店の顔になるケーキ、かと思いますから…。

その、洗練されたオトナ感のある世界を壊さないで、 お洒落に徹して、センス追求したほうが良かった気がします。 あの青色が、圧倒的にシックなオトナ色なので、 ユーモラスとか子供っぽい要素は入れないほうが良かった…。 美味しいだけに、そこが大変に惜しく感じました。 （子供想いの、優しいパパが作られているのかな。）

あくまで素人の、個人の意見です。 生意気をいって、申し訳ありません。 ただ、お店の雰囲気も、ファミリー向けというより、 都会風にお洒落にしようとされている感じなので、 味も美味しく色どりもきれいなので、

ところどころギャグではないですけど、子供っぽいユーモアが入ると、 何となく、チグハグな感は、 少しありました。 1つはそういうケーキがあってもいいけれど、 この美しい群青色ケーキには、もっと 別の演出が似合うのでは？と。

美味しいのに、なんかそこのセンスが合わないなぁ…という…それが、 ★1つマイナスの原因でもあります。

あと、接客については、決して悪くないのですが、淡々とした感じ。

また、もっと早く来ようと思ったのですが、不定休のため、何回かは来ても休みだったりして…。 それも来にくくなる原因なので、 4つ星評価にさせて頂いたしだいです。

でも、他のケーキも美味しそうなので、 休みでなければ、また行きたいです...
