Izakaya Chōcho — Restaurant in Sendai

I don’t often write reviews on Google. I typically reserve them for the best of the best. Tavern Cho Cho is in that league.

From the kitchen and wait staff, to the quality of food and presentation, everything about Tavern Cho Cho was the tops. Many of the staff spoke enough English to help guide us through the extensive menu. We also let our server (who fortunately spoke quite a bit of English) pick sake to pair with the food and it was spot on. Two of us ate and drank all we could possibly fit in our bellies over the course of two hours and the total bill was about 1200 yen.

Reservations :: you will need them. Our hotel concierge called very last minute for us, and got a two hour slot from 5pm to 7pm. The wait staff was extremely helpful with reminding us about a last call on our food and drinks so our seats weren’t held last 7pm. We stood up and walked out at 6:59! like clockwork!

I can’t wait to return to Sendai for another...

Honestly one of the best izakaya I have been to in Japan. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The menus are all handwritten Kanji but there are sometimes some staff who can speak a bit of English. Don't be afraid to just ask for the recommendations and...
