I have visited this mochi shop numerous times during my trips from America. Their rice cakes are wonderful and very fresh. These are so much better than any mochi I have tasted in the US. The server, Noriko-san, told me in very good English that their rice cakes were all made fresh daily. No need to speak Japanese as they have many mochi in the two display cases to select from. The zunda mochi (green paste, sweet soybean) was excellent and the best I have ever had in Japan. My other favorites were the sakura mochi during cherry blossom season, regular bean jam mochi and as a Westerner I found the strawberry mochi and chocolate/strawberry mochi to be superb! The triple flavor mochi tray is also delicious.

Read moreCosy little shop on the outskirt of sendai Centre. The shop has an eat-in restaurant that only had around 4 tables (12 seats), and the other half of the shop is for takeout only.
You queue up outside. There are 2 lines. The line on the right (closer to the door) is for dining in, and the line on the left (outside, close to the street) is for takeout. We waited for roughly 30 mins in the queue for dining in and there were roughly... 6-8 people in front of us when we started queueing.
We ordered the 3 colour mochi and it was nice. the mochi was nice and chewy as its fresh, and you get to try the 3...
Read moreCame here to try the local zunda mochi and was pretty impressed! The taste was great, just the right balance of beany and sweet. It was a shame that it seems you can’t get the 3-piece tasting set if you’re not eating in, but the zunda was the one I really wanted to try and it didn’t disappoint. The daifuku was nice too, not overly sweet with a pleasantly subtle taste. The whole place has an old-fashioned charm, so it feels authentic. There are only a couple of tables, so you will probably have to queue up for a while if you want to eat in. Either way, I’d definitely recommend stopping by here for some...
