Visited on 09/18/2024. Had a very nice seasonal tasting menu (subject to constant change) featuring a kaiseki round-tour of Izu peninsula ingredients along with french-style fare. While everything was good and very nicely served and presented, our favorites were the sashimi with plum-paste dipping sauce and the kinmedai cocotte rice set.

I stayed at the Shimoda Tokyu Hotel so I got to taste the Japanese buffet breakfast. I love the fresh salad and steamed veggies plus the pickles. Various small-plate dishes can be picked and arranged it nearly on the tray to be consumed. Very nice.

妻の誕生日祝いで10月26日に宿泊しレストランも利用しました。 12月に出産を控えた妻との最後の2人旅行ということもあり、とても楽しみにしていました。 ホテルやお部屋は新しくはないが清潔で眺望も素晴らしく、スタッフの方々の接客も丁寧で最初はとても満足していました。 夕食のレストランではフルコースをいただき、メイン以外の料理はどれも美味しく、盛り付けも美しく、特別な時間を過ごせました。 ただ、メイン料理に添えられていたコリンキーを口にした瞬間、強い異臭があり、非常に不快な思いをしました。 後に調べたところ、痛むと特有の臭いを放つ食材のようで、妻も体調を崩してしまいました。 フロントの方へ訴えたところ丁寧に対応してくださり、その点は感謝しています。 しかし翌朝、調理責任者の方と現場責任者の方からの説明では「傷んでいたのではない」の一点張りで、誠実な対応とは感じられませんでした。 結果として本件のため多くの時間を費やし体調も崩したため予定もキャンセルして帰宅しました。 食材のトラブル自体は防ぎきれないこともあると思います。 ですが、その後の対応こそがホテルとしての本質だと感じます。 今回はその部分で非常に残念に思いました。 せっかくの記念旅行だっただけに、悔しい気持ちでいっぱいです。 ※写真はその時のメイン料理

We paid more than 12000 for a piece of steak that was beaten to almost flat, and a beef stew that had three pieces of meat. The stew was meant to come with mashed potato...and I guess technically it did if one teaspoonful counts! Slow service, definitely...
