I stayed at 4 onsen ryokans / hotels during my trip and this hotel gave me the worst experience I have never had, not just in comparison to the other 3 onsen ryokans / hotels which I stayed in my trip, but all onsen ryokans / hotels I stayed in Japan before.
The photos in the official website gave me a good impression but eventually the experience turned out to be the opposite.
The room was dim. The decoration was old with low maintenance. The false ceiling near the air-conditioner was cracked but not repaired. The carpet was old and worn but was not replaced.
For the dinner (夕食), the seafood including the sashimi and lobsters (伊勢海老) were not fresh and tasted bad. The Japanese beef (和牛) seemed to have been put in the fridge for a long time. The corridor leading to the public onsen bath gave a terrible atmosphere.
The breakfast (朝食) was also a nightmare. It seemed that all items were just taken from the fridge.
The expensive price did not guarantee a good experience. I think this is the reason why there were only a few groups of guests staying at the hotel. On the day I stayed at the hotel, there were only 4 groups of guests, but the hotel has more than 50 rooms. On the next days the situation was better, with a total of 6...
Read moreStayed here for 2 nights with my parents. We all loved Yanagiya. The hotel was in decent condition considering the history. We felt hospitality the moment we stepped out of the free shuttle bus. It was located right across the sea and next to an ancient public Onsen. Don’t miss it if you are interested and it’s super cheap. We had the food inside our room for both breakfast and dinner. No complaint for the amount, quality and service of all meals. The in-room onsen was convenient. We also tried the onsen inside the hotel. It was pure hot spring water so l liked it. The date we planned to depart happened to be a special day for a local event so the roads nearby were all closed. No shuttle bus or taxi could get to the hotel and take us to the train station. But the front desk staff came to our room, showed us different options on the map and explained to us to his best. We appreciated his help so that we could get out and catch the...
Read moreWe stayed at room 1201, the biggest one on the floor with western and tatami beds. Room is very spacious with an impressive sea view and the beautiful beach. ||Obviously, it is a hotel of certain age, yet very popular among the Japanese. ||Staff speak English which has added value for foreigners.||The location is just top. 2 minutes to the beach, 3 minutes to the famous outdoor onsen, 5 minutes to the famous fish restaurant 九繒亭, 10 minutes to the street of restaurant Ginza and 15 minutes to the famous cliffs and boulder.||Onsen in the hotel is good. We have tried the family onsen the first evening. Well, we prefer the big shared onsen.||Well, we are very happy with our choice and we would highly recommend it to...
