Bar Fiore — Restaurant in Takayama

I usually never write reviews but I feel like this place truly deserves it. This is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to in my entire life. The owner runs the restaurant alone. He takes orders, he cooks, he serves, he cleans, all by himself. The food was absolutely phenomenal. I would dare say Michelin level quality. The pizza was PERFECT. The crust was thin and crispy. The cheese was light and very flavorful. The ingredients used were incredibly high quality. If you come here and try the food you will not be disappointed. I have never given a tip before in Japan as it is seen as disrespectful but I had to just this one time. He said he will give the money to his kids. We came here for dinner service with no reservation and was promptly seated and given English menus! It was a one-man show and the chef was very attentive to all guests while he made incredible fresh food. We ordered two pizzas, bolognese pasta, hida beef meat pie and a tiramisu for dessert and it was one of our favorite meals while visiting Takayama!!! We had a great experience here! The pasta was freshly made and so delicious! So much care went into our meal. The restaurant is beautifully decorated by his wife who owns the flower shop next door. The owner was so sweet and friendly! He prepared a little buffet of appetizers you can choose from while waiting for your main dish. Everything we tried was so fresh and delicious!
