my sister and i stayed here for 3 nights and received nothing but the most welcoming and helpful hospitality. taku-san gave us incredible food recommendations, as well as information on takayama and the surrounding areas. the room itself was exceptional - with very comfy beds, spotlessly clean, and plenty of storage/hanging space. the communal spaces (showers, toilets, kitchen/living) were also very clean, with plenty of amenities such as coffee/tea, and bath and shower products. the location was also excellent, with the hostel itself being in a quiet residential area, but less than a 10 minute walk to the built up and touristic areas.
takayama will be a highly memorable trip for my sister and i, with taku-san strongly contributing to our experience. he dried our shoes out when they were wet for us, and gave us tips on how to stay warm and dry in the snow! he is also very funny, making our experience that much more enjoyable!
taki-san! we will be back - hopefully very soon! we wish you safety and happiness always!!! thank you for making our time in takayama so special thank you again! marisa and marli from...
Read moreTaku-san is the best host ever! The moment we arrived we were warmly welcomed by him and his wife.
He prepared maps for us, searched for bus schedules for us to go to Shirakawago and also gave us a unique map that he created with recommendations on food and interesting places in Takayama! We went to a Hida beef restaurant he recommended called Kyoyo and it was delicious and affordable!!
He also showed us around the hostel and it looks exactly like a Ryokan but much newer, cleaner and modernized which is perfect.
There's 2 shower rooms and 2 toilets (1 for females, 1 for males). Towels are provided. There's a microwave oven, stove, fridge and all sorts of utensils and cutlery that you need. The garden was beautiful and it's so relaxing to sit inside the house snug and warm while watching the snow fall outside.
TLDR: The place is SPARKLING CLEAN and there's everything you need to have a good stay. We were so comfortable that we didn't want to leave after 2 nights! We are definitely going to come back and...
Read moreA warm, sweet little place just 10 mins walk away from Takayama station. It has everything you need: The room comes with warm blankets, comfy beds (with reading lamps!!), a dresser to keep your stuff, and fresh towels every day. The shared toilets are exceptionally clean (the shower room is private), and the fully-stocked kitchen / dining room is cozy and tastefully decorated (bonus pics of my favourite corners). Taku-san is the perfect host: always ready to help, gives detailed recommendations about where to go & eat around Takayama (loved the sushi & soba places he recommends!), and will even give you pointers on how to reach nearby destinations like Shirakawago or public onsen hotels. Takayama itself is also a very charming town—my favourite destination during my Japan travels—and staying in this hostel makes the experience even more memorable. Really hope I can come back someday (maybe next year? 😆)
Thank you, Taku-san, stay happy &...
