There's only so much ramen, soba and sushi one can have before the stomach asks for some pizza. I got here on rainy day and found a homely place with a lone hardworking man running the show. It was a pleasure sitting near the bar and seeing him go about his work with his noodle boiler, stove and the classic woodfired oven. The pizza came out as good as any I've ever had (and I live in Little Italy, SF) and the sides I tried (garlic toast, egg/asparagus bake, baked veggies) were delicious too. I talked to him for a bit and found out that worked and learned his skills at an Italian place in Gujo hachiman for many years before opening this spot up 9 years ago! He very kindly ordered me a taxi to get home too.

The most amazing place. A one-man show serving the best Italian food outside of Italy (probb better than much within Italy) without ever been in Italy.. Everything is homemade. His stone oven from Milan makes the best pizzas and more. His gnocchis are super tasty and don't forget to check out the chocolate mousse. Don't go here if you want to be served quickly. It may take a while when it gets crowdy. This is literally doing the magic all by himself. However, if you can relax, enjoy good food and appreciate the love and energy that he puts in it; you will have a great time👌 We ended up going twice (we couldn't resist 😇).

Who would have thought you can eat authentic wood-fire pizza in Takayama? Husband and I were blown away tonight with gnocchi and pizza we had. We come from Melbourne where many good authentic Italian restaurants around but this is truly one of the best that we had in Italy, Australia and Japan! Chef-san is running his one man show in a beautiful set up restaurant. I would love to bring our children here one day for his pizza! Chef-san, Thank you for making our night in Takayama special! I wanted to tell you that I also make my own pizza and gnocchi at home, so thank you for inspired me! ♥️♥️♥️

We were treated to a wonderful meal prepared by Daisuke, the owner and chef of this wonderful Italian restaurant that he as perfected for the last 15 years! Tucked away in a peaceful and quiet neighborhood, he meticulously prepared a most delicious meal and gave us a memorable evening. It was as though he was our personal chef for the night. Everything was prepared to our satisfaction. You will not be disappointed. Will come again if we every return to Takayama. ご馳走さまでした。

Gorgeous restaurant we found while craving Italian food. Beautiful and thoughtful decor giving a very warm and cosy feel. We had pizza and it was easily the best pizza we have had outside of Italy! So much so that we repeatedly asked the friendly and talented owner if he trained in Italy. We also had lovely oven roasted potatoes and a few drinks, which were reasonably priced. Definitely a must try for pizza lovers visiting Takayama!
