We stayed at Cup of tea for 2 nights and we had lovely time. The hostel is situated very close to all the important tourist spots, but in a quiet neighborhood, meaning that you are only few minutes away from the old town, but you don't get the tourist buzz from people passing by. Right across the street there is a local onsen so if you've never tried one in Japan, this might be your place!||||The hostel itself is small and ran by Tats - Japanese with loads of international experience. It's very inspiring talking to him. It also gives you a sensation of a family-ran place. Everything is very personalized and you can see that Tats really put a lot of effort to make everything practical and comfortable for his guests. Ask him for his recommendations, we followed his advice and managed to avoid big crowds while seeing truly magical places in Takayama (specially the temples walk was!!). ||||We stayed in 8-beds dorm and even though the room itself is small, the bed area is really big and has everything you might need: good light for reading, warm and cozy bed linen, power sockets, curtain to give you privacy. The wi-fi is also great and the signal reaches the bedrooms. The showers are big, water pressure is great. There is also fully equipped kitchen and free tea/coffee all day - a really nice gesture! Cup of tea is impeccably clean. Apart from dorms, there is 1 family room and tatami room on the ground floor. There is also a lovely zen garden. ||||Overall a great stay and we definitely...
