This is not the kind of Omakase that serve sushi by piece. Instead the owner put everything in one plate and serve you at once. There was no explanation for each piece [which was not needed anyway because the sushi was very simple, the same kind that you can buy from supermarket]. I was not even greeted when walked in nor even offered menu/courses, yet after 3 minutes of sitting in confusion, the owner said the first and the only word during the entire session to me which is "Wait". Because of this, the small and cozy atmosphere make the situation very awkward because you are forced to facing a guy that have zero interest in communicating.
Last and most importantly, the quality of the food is below average. The fish seems not so fresh and the portion of rice is too big compared to the fish. The $3,000 yen is definitely overpriced for this quality.
I felt the need to write this review because I came here as a result of others' "good reviews". Thus, my review could reflect the most up to date quality...
Read moreStumbled across 鮨匠 (Sushi Sho) nearby Wat Hotel. No queue. We were greeted warmly by owner of the shop at the sushi bar although he was not fluent in English. He is a very experienced chef and has been operating the shop for 46 years. We had two sets of Omakase (~JPY3,000 each set, with 10 Pcs of nigiri sushi + 6Pcs of maki). Food quality was excellent with the generous portion and reasonable price given. We were also served a very delicious bonito soup. Chef told us that the business had been slower after Covid pandemic and the shop closes at 11pm since then (instead of 1am before the pandemic). The chef is quite old and not computer literated. We hope more people will find out this shop by spreading the word. It was really the best Omakase experience...
Read moreI saw many positive reviews, so I decided to try. But I think this restaurant is only for tourists, especially those who don't know what to expect in sushi. The restaurant only serves chef choices set (JPY3,000 per head), which is 9 pieces of sushi and a cup of green tea (no appetiser, no miso soup). It's expansive considering the quality and types of ingredients. Usually, for chef choices (or Omakase), the chef will serve you their special dishes or fresh of the day. But for this restaurant, I only got the most common sushis such as salmon, egg, tuna, shrimp, etc. I saw some seasonal fish, shellfish, and sea urgin inside the counter, and I wonder who will get them (because it's chef choices menu). Overall, I would not...
