Without a doubt, the best ramen I have ever eaten not just in Nakano, but in all Japan.
First time I came here was in 2005 and I've been coming with friends and family ever since. Everyone agrees. It's god damn good!! When I get visits from overseas, even friends tell me to come here for lunch. And it's my kids favorite ramenya.
What makes this place special is a combination of several things. The ramen itself is absolutely delicious and never disappoints. The broth is done with sardines instead of pork bones so most people are quite surprise at first but it's worth a try if you have never tried this kind of ramen before. You won't forget the aftertaste and drinking the whole soup is something I end up doing most of the times I visit. The noodles are usually on the mid to hard consistency which I love and the sliced pork is very tender. Considering how cheap it is, the amount is pretty generous. The bamboo shoots are big and tasty and the boiled eggs are always on point. You can order several types of ramen, tonkotsu being one of the most popular on this ramenya. They also serve miso ramen which is a little strong for my stomach but worth it as it makes the flavor even more intense if you are after that sort of taste.
Do not forget to order the pork and rice side dish. For around 100 yen, you wont be disappointed. It is the perfect companion to a perfect ramen.
To finish it off, the owners are extremely friendly and polite. They even gave okashi to my kids on a few occasions after finishing the ramen something you don't see that often on this kind of restaurants.

Read moreカウンターのみの狭い店内ですが、奥につながっているので座れます。券売機が1台なので、並んでいる時は中に声をかけると現金で注文を聞いてくれました。 スタッフさんの誠実なオペがライブで見られます。丼の温めから、麺あげ、スープ張りまで丁寧なお仕事! スープは見るからに美味そうな風景を醸し出してました。 背脂を入れてしまったので、煮干し出汁の主張はやや弱く極太のメンマに驚いてましたが、終盤、煮干し出汁ならではのおだやかな風味がジワリ効いてきました。個人的には、背脂は要らなかったかと。次回は背脂抜きのシンプルで検証したいですね。
