So this is a difficult place for me to rate, for two reasons. One, I don't have an advanced enough palette to truly appreciate stranger, non-American (?) flavors like, for a very relevant example, sea urchins. Two, I'm very sensitive to price, and a place that costs $175 per person needs to be very good indeed to warrant a high rating.
At miyavi, I didn't love every dish. There were three sea urchins, and I enjoyed them all, but I didn't love them. And I'm not a fan of raw squid.
But.
This place gave me the best nigiri of my LIFE. Each piece had perfect rice, a perfect balance of toppings to the natural flavor of the fish, and absolutely amazing were each of the 3x tuna, mackerel, horse mackerel, snapper, wagyu beef (yeah, that was a nigiri too!), and - though a grilled dish, not nigiri - the blackcod.
Plus, the chefs, an endearing married couple, were absolutely great company - even despite the language barrier.
So I've got to recommend the place, if you can afford it. Just be prepared to have some weird flavors in...
Read moreAmazing experience! What a beautiful meal. Every bite was so delicious and well executed. The chef was so kind and happy to explain each dish. We got to try some new things as well as fugu which we had not tasted yet. The balance between the nigiri bites and other dishes was perfect and the miso was the best I have ever tasted, it was truly unique to any miso I’ve had over the last month of Japan travels. Everything was so fresh and full of flavor, you could not ask for more. The restaurant is beautiful as well and it was so cool to watch our food be prepped. We also loved all of the fun cups, dishes, sake pitchers, etc. Don’t hesitate to make a reservation, you are in for a...
Read moreSushi Miyabi is a restaurant conveniently located just a 1-minute walk from Sangen-jaya Station on the Setagaya Line. The restaurant features a calm and sophisticated counter seating area, as well as private rooms suitable for entertaining guests or holding formal dinners. At Sushi Miyabi, you can savor authentic Edomae sushi made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. Each piece of sushi, hand-shaped by the chef right before your eyes, is a masterpiece. The tuna, in particular, had a melt-in-your-mouth texture and an unforgettable flavor. In addition to sushi, the restaurant offers an extensive selection of alcoholic beverages. The sake menu includes over 10 varieties, changing with the seasons, allowing you to enjoy perfect pairings with your sushi. Every dish is meticulously prepared, leaving me completely satisfied. The following dishes were particularly memorable: Tuna: A melt-in-your-mouth sensation with a rich umami flavor that spreads throughout your palate. Sea urchin: An irresistibly rich and creamy taste. Conger eel: Fluffy and tender, melting in your mouth. I highly recommend this restaurant for special occasions or dining with important...
