The place and concept is cute and the staff is very nice and kawaii but we honestly felt left out compared to all the other tables (they were full when we came in but other 3 tables rotated customers while we were there). We were also the only English speakers so what I can recommend is to not expect that great of a service id you don't speak Japanese.
They played games and talked to other customers but not us.
We also had to keep on calling them several times to get their attention be it to order food, check, water, etc.
Another reason I am giving it 2 stars instead of 3 is because the time spent and what we ordered did not feel like it was worth it.
I really wanted to like the experience and had read reviews saying this was one of the better maid cafes for tourists but I guess not.

Read moreOur experience at Akiba Zettai Ryoiki has been the worst experience at a restaurant that I've ever had in Japan, no where close to the usual above and beyond levels of service experienced on my trip. The maids paid very little attention to our table and we had our maid explain the rules in English to us and another table of foreigners at the same time. You have to pay a 600 yen table charge per person for 60 mins. It took about 45 minutes for our order to arrive (all we ordered were simple desserts) and somehow the table next to us that had more people ended up getting their orders before we did even though we placed our order first.
There are numerous other maid cafes in Akihabara, I will not be returning...

Slight language barrier but through the marvels of modern technology and the fact that their English was way better than my Japanese, still had a great time. Best bit of advice I got before stopping in was, "if you go, go with it." Not the place to go and be frumpy or "cool" it's the place to go for cute servers doing cute things and they will ask you to do cutsie stuff too. Go with it and you'll have fun and good conversation, even if you need a translate app to do it.
Looking forward to a revisit next time I...
