the location and price are the best things about this hotel. the bad thing is it's not very clean only superficially clean and this place has fleas/insects/bugs/flies. honestly I would recommend staying at a different nearby APA Hotel that are newer and cleaner just a 20 min walk from Akihabara. the price of this place is very good but the very small rooms are just OK. not the cleanest. they clean often but they don't deep clean. they don't vacuum, they only use a small sticky sheet roller to collect dirty things from the carpet superficially so the carpets are not clean. the old tissue boxes, old origami paper crane and shelves in corners are worn and dusty. i would see an occasional flea? everyday. in the mornings the garbage and amenities are spread out in plastic bags on one side in the hallway. the good parts were the light controls by the bed, the TV, the wifi decent and the bathroom was clean and everything works well and is nice with a bathtub. the hot and cold water were great with good pressure and flow. the towels, robe and bedding itself felt clean. a sign says to close the door when showering or else the fire alarm might detect the steam and go off. overall I recommend for 1 to 3 nights to bathe and sleep only. it is not ideal for work from home as it is too small and uncomfortable and I feared the bugs but the price is too good. also checkout time is 10 am and there is only 1 slow elevator so I recommend putting your suitcases late or early. it's fine at other times. the fire alarm went off one time when I was there and we used the staircase but i guess it's for emergency use only. they said it was a false alarm. at least this place saved...
Read moreThis was my first stay in Japan, and the staff at APA Hotel helped make it a magnificent one! The property is a bit hidden, so make sure you know where you are headed so that you do not get lost. This smaller hotel is perfect for anyone traveling solo or small groups of 2 or 3 who would like to enjoy the Akihabara district. The property is almost brand new (Built in 2017) and is extremely clean. Check in was simple, and made for a good first impression. Unfortunately there is only one elevator, and the stairwells are emergency only, so you must wait for the elevator. As I was glad to be on the top floor, unfortunately that made for a longer commute going upstairs and downstairs. The room is very small, but clean and cozy. Housekeeping was kind enough to place bags of new linen and amenities outside my door on days that I did not request service in my room, allowing me to still refresh which was nice. The Canyon City Steakhouse downstairs gives you two choices for breakfast in the morning, but they are quite tasty if you like meat! This hotel is very convenient to the Akihabara JR Train station, Radio Kaikan anime goods, delicious eateries, and SO MUCH more! Being so close to everything in Akihabara, and staying in a very nice and clean establishment helped make my first journey to Japan a success! Saito was very helpful and polite at check out, and I left with a feeling hoping that one day I would return. I hope that is the case! Arigatou gozaimasu APA...
Read moreAn APA hotel that opened on August 28th, 2017. The location is superb, especially so if you are interested in shopping around in Akihabara. It is right across the road from Akihabara Denkigai-guti exit, and literally 20 meters away from Sofmap and Akihabara Mac Collection. Also, being such a new facility, it is currently in pristine quality. The staff is also outstanding, and although I spoke to the lady in Japanese, it seems from her accent that her mother tongue is probably English.
The interesting thing about this place is that perhaps because it had space constraints, it is built in a 'Tower' fashion and rooms are dispatched facing a central space. APA hotels are not known for their window view anyway so it doesn't really matter but I thought it was worth noting.
The downside of this place, of course is that being in such a good site, its price is slightly higher than the other APA hotels and also it does not offer any discount even when you use the Yahoo! Travel plans. I'm not sure why but they also lack a coin laundry. I'd definitely recommend this place if you have a day or two to spend shopping in Akihabara, but if you want it only for its great location, I think you can get an APA hotel for about 2/3's price in Kanda or Ochanomizu...
