The wife and I were on our last day in Japan and wanted to spend it in Akihabara to grab some last minute souvenirs. For the most part, the building and stores and very cool. Most of them are rinse and repeat from the other shops, but you might be able to find that special figure for a few hundred yen cheaper than the shop next door.
HOWEVER The reason it is getting 1 star is an interaction I had with one employee on the 4th floor. I forget the name of the specific shop, but as I was rummaging through some Marvel t-shirts, apparently my backpack had accidentally knocked down like 3 little keychain trinkets without me realizing it. Instead of coming and talking to me directly, this particular employee decided to push me on the shoulder (not hard, but enough throw me off balance). I turned around to find this guy glaring at me like I just kicked his dog or something. Looked down and saw the keychains on the ground, I apologized a few times and went to help pick them up, but he just snatched them from my hand and then stormed off. It was an honest mistake and I don't think I deserved such a response. Instead of buying the Cowboy Bebop shirts I found earlier, I just put them back and left. We won't be going back there next time...

One of the coolest parts is the small performance space, where lesser-known idols sometimes perform. You might stumble into a rehearsal or mini live show without even planning it. It adds a raw, community feel that’s hard to find in big stores.
Not everything is flashy – some shops are really low-key, almost hidden, which makes discovering things even more fun. It feels personal, like you’re tapping into the subcultures within the subculture.
Definitely worth a stop if you’ve already done the big stores and want to explore deeper cuts of...
Read moreThis place has almost everything you could want or need in akiba and you will find yourself looking for almost an hour if your into anime or manga and they also have a good selection of idol goods as well as Japanese boy band goods.
The figures you can find here can be either incredibly cheap or rare so I highly recommend going here just be sure to browse a bit on some of the higher floors because you might find a great deal the higher you go. Also if you are into the darker zone of anime they also have some selection for various pillow covers, games, and etc which is something you find less of in other stores and can almost become a chore finding a place with that type of stuff so save yourself some time this store has almost everything your...
