I was excited to try the “best burger” in Tokyo, if not Japan. Let’s start off by saying I like the idea of a place that puts a lot of attention of sourcing great ingredients and care that is put into the creation of the food. Unfortunately, that didn’t shine through to the end result. We ordered the avocado burger and cheeseburger (the exact name slips my mind, but it was the first on that side of the menu), along with onion rings. Ok, so we had to order when we made the reservation, but noticed 2 other people order when they arrived. Don’t know why, but OK?!? About the burgers…both were pretty damn bland, I mean zero flavor. The avocado burger had zero avocado taste or seasoning to speak of. The cheeseburger was the same. My wife didn’t want to eat her half after the avocado burger. She said she’ll save her stomach for something from another place that would be worth getting full on lol. The ingredients- The meat seemed to be ok quality, but lacked any beefy flavor. The bun was extremely dry. It also had like a brûlée top or something on top. Lacked flavor and so dry. Tomato was the best thing on the burgers. Had a nice flavor and texture you would expect from a quality tomato. Lettuce was iceberg, nothing to report on simple iceberg. Sauce was ok, I think it was suppose to be like thousand island, but I honestly don’t know. It was ok, but nothing I would want on my burger, regardless of what it was. Cheese was cheese. The cheeseburger did have cream cheese that kind of overpowered the flavors of the rest of the bland burger. Avocado didn’t seem to add any of the nice quality it usually does…no creamy texture, no flavor, really just there. Enough about the burgers, because I think I was clear about how much we didn’t care for them. Fries were nice and crispy. I could have swore I saw them dumping something out of a brown bag that restaurants get full of fries out of the freezer, they were cooked nicely though. Onion rings were kind of your average store bought onion rings, which they served with ketchup and I believe their burger sauce. They also served you a side of coleslaw. Kind of bland, not my idea of a coleslaw that I would crave. They also served a grape flavored tea at the end, which was nice. I can’t express how much this was a letdown. They whole experience would lead you to believe you would be having a great burger experience. Can’t be further from the truth. If this burger place was in LA or even Bangkok, it would be laughed out of existence with how much they try to prop up how great of a burger you would get…it isn’t great, less than average in LA or Bangkok. For the trouble of getting a table, ordering a head of time, rules and costs, go to Burger King. I love the whole concept of making it feel like a special experience, but these guys just couldn’t pull off the level of food for the level of experience. This burger isn’t even the best in Tokyo. I’m sorry, but I speak my mind and say how it is from my perspective, especially for the...
Read moreI wish I could use this review to focus on the quality of the food, but the discriminatory service that I received is the only thing that sticks out: I (a non Asian foreigner) went to this establishment with a Japanese friend. The staff member who served us then proceeded to completely ignore me the entire time, and only spoke to my Japanese counterpart (even though I also spoke to them in Japanese). Later on when I tried to express my discontent of their treatment over the phone (in a respectful manner), the person I spoke to (who was different from the one who served me) completely dismissed my concerns about facing discrimination, and then hung up the phone. On top of that, they divulged that person's nationality to try to convince me that there was no discrimination involved. I do not find this type of treatment to be professional or respectful, and as such cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area (especially people of non Asian descent). There are other good burger establishments in the area, and your money is better...
Read moreGreat service and calm atmosphere. The teriyaki burger is definitely what you come here for (5 stars for that one for sure!) It was delicious & what i would return for. We also ordered the basic cheeseburger and although it had a lot of sauce I thought it was lacking in flavor as a whole (I did skip the relish though so that should be noted in case it would’ve made a difference). I did think it was overall a good burger, but not great. When we arrived the waiter pointed to the teriyaki as being the most popular and recommended but given there are three burgers on their menu I think the other burgers should also be just as tasty. I would absolutely still recommend the spot! We walked in on a weekday without reservations (about 30 min before their closing time) and there was only one other couple there so we were able to get seated right away. Also, the fries are delicious (& a small plate of fries comes with...
