Visited for the Sailor Moon exhibition. I'm not accustomed to securing advanced timed ticket slots to exhibitions as a visitor to Japan - but I went right at 10am opening to see if I could buy ticket at window. The staff was professional and with some back and forth I was allowed to enter and purchase a ticket at the front desk. Pretty nice staging and flow of the exhibition. The second two rooms were mostly digitally printed mounted graphics and were engaging to look at - if a bit lacking in authenticity. The room archive of licensed products was really great to see - as was the selection of original artwork on display. Would have liked to have seen more animation cels and or original storyboard drawings. Overall very nice production value and a good variety of graphics and artwork to look at. Gift shop assortment was not as sophisticated in quality, diversity or range for my taste - but perhaps I am not the target audience in that regard. The coolest item for retail were these made-to-order custom bomber jackets in Navy and White that had a lot of considered design detail and offered something unique. The basic "Exhibition Tee" was poorly designed and poorly printed as Direct To Garment - on a lightweight GSM tee. Not worth the asking price. Beautiful merchandising and retail shopfit through. I didn't visit the Cafe. Overall it was a really unique experience and it was inspirational to see the world and characters that Naoko Takeuchi has created. Great way to...
Read moreOf course you're gonna go but a few warnings. There is no English, most of the stuff here is merchandise through the years. A few pieces of original art were nice that you're not allowed to photograph, though. Really disappointed by the shop. You're only allowed a single item of each thing you see. So you can have four post cards but they cannot be the same motif...yes. Same with the Washi Tape, for instance. This is going to be hard for people with friends abroad. Also, in the confusion at my first visit at the cashier before I realized this whole ordeal the one item I was excited about the most got removed twice instead of just the double and I did not notice in the whole rush afterwards. I got home and instead of two I had none. I was so disappointed. You can't go to the shop without a ticket. The cafe was ok. The food's not bad. A compilation movie room could have been nice. Or a reading nook with the manga in several languages. I mean I paid $20. Sad to see how they are not really here...
Read moreVisited for the “Sailor Moon” exhibition. The museum itself was easy to access and convenient. As per the exhibition, it is not worth the hype (for me). First, it confused me why the “costume change” video at the start of the tour is phohibited to be videographed even though it’s already seen before and available in the internet. 2nd, most of the items inside are just photos (like graphic walls 😅). There are also paintings/art works which are also not allowed to be photographed (this is understandable)
The most fun part for me as a sailor moon fan, were the sailor costumes. It seems soOo legit 💕
There’s also a gift shop at the end (exit gate), where I expected to buy a replica of the sailor wands or costumes or stuff toys, but to top my disappointment, those are not available as well 🫠
Can still count as an experience so I’m giving it a 3stars. If you are to visit, just don’t...
