TL;DR Skip this establishment unless you enjoy loud, unsanitary, overpriced and mediocre Izakaya food.

WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!

We went on our first night in Tokyo looking got a good Izakaya place to eat around Ginza and Yūrakucho area. This place popped up with 4+ star rating on Google so we gave it a try.

Upon arriving, we were seated next to the women’s restroom and boy did it smell so bad every time someone went in and out of the restroom. Honestly, I felt like we were sitting next to a public restroom...if not worse!! The whole place was full and people were smoking inside in a closed environment so the quality of air was already bad enough.

Since we had already ordered several things from a server (mostly her recommendations), we thought we’d just stay and eat really quick. I know people talk about their King Crab here but we were just not ready to spend ¥7800 on our first night.

We ordered two different sashimi dishes (non-premium items), sautéed scallop, shrimp with chili sauce and beef steak with fries. We thought the sashimi was okay at best and the rest of the food was not tasty at all. I have been to countless amount of Izakaya all over japan and the US and this was such a disappointment in terms of their quality and the expectation 4+ rating it had. We asked for the check immediately and it was almost ¥7000...what a rip off!

Needless to say, we will never come back to this...

Embarrassed to say I decided to have a 10 year anniversary dinner here with friends and family. When we walked in the pure smell of urine hit our nostrils and we could barely breathe. It took about twenty minutes to adjust to this awful smell. The kitchen which we could see from our table was very dirty looking, and when something caught my eye on the floor I watched for a bit to see a cockeraoch crawling around, the cook unaware. Once she became aware she tried to just wipe it away, not even kill it. So nasty. The service was ok, but it took so long to start receiving food and my young children were starving, one of the family members had bought French fries for her toddler and shared with my kids. The owner, Andy lost his mind on us about it. He yelled and belittled me in front of our party, saying how highly offensive it was to bring in food and how it wasn't his problem that my kids were starving. He went on about it every time he passed our table. It was just awful. The fried chicken was tasteless, so was the pancit like noodle dish. We got barely any vegetables, and the fish we were served was past freshness. I absolutely regret paying for this meal and giving my business to such a nasty undeserving...

My husband and I went here on our anniversary night, first night in Tokyo, because it came highly recommended by an expat friend. However, I was travel-weary and feeling a bit nauseous and the noise level and strong fish smell was more than I could take. The place was lively and I’m sure some love that atmosphere, but I told my husband I felt sick and we had to leave, before we had ordered anything. We were there in total maybe 3 minutes. We hurried out so I could get fresh air, and after we’d walked around the corner we were chased down by Andy, who told us very angrily we were super rude for leaving his restaurant when we had a reservation. (We had gotten there early.) I found that incredibly unprofessional and aggressive, and would not recommend this place to anyone for the awful treatment we were given. I hope Andy has cooled off and doesn’t chase down any more unsuspecting tourists who feel nauseous and hurt his...

As a fellow Andy, this place seemed like a great place to eat and dine in at. There are two floors and we had to be corralled to the right location as the too floor was reserved for a party. On the main floor we were helped by the staff who were all so welcoming and accommodating. They even had an English menu in hand even if all the other clients were Japanese. The atmosphere was very nice and vintage-like with a rustic vibe to it, so having drunk business folk around us really made our night! When the food came out it smelled amazing. We ordered: Mushrooms, Prawns, Salmon, and Kaarage. It tasted amazing and they were quite large in portion sizes for the price. I recommend to ask the staff their recommendations because we ordered everything based on their advice!

Great host, great service, just an all-around 5* experience! Turned up at 10pm on a Wednesday night, to find the restaurant busy but no line. Offered a drink immediately and seated. Ordered the chilli prawns, scallops, gyoza chicken wings, tempura and fish and chips... This isn’t your usual Japanese restaurant though with small portions - big plates and the prawns and scallops were the biggest I’ve ever had... so fresh and tasty! Gyoza chicken wings are worth a try and the fried chicken got rave reviews (not is, the table next to us!), but don’t over-order or you won’t finish! Thanks Andy, great meal with brilliant service (and the rugby on TV!), hopefully see you again!

Great food, great drinks and great vibes! We have been to Andy’s a few times whenever we have a chance to visit Tokyo and it’s always great. We got lucky and managed to get a small table on the last Friday before end of 2033! The seafood is here is top quality. As many have pointed out, the king crab and scallops are delicious and they are my favourites. The place is always busy, therefore reservations are highly recommended. The staff at Andy’s are always friendly and helpful. And the team speaks English so it’s easy for non Japanese speakers. It’s just fun to be here. Please note the place is cash only.
