Overpriced and Rude
Can’t beat this killer combo! Seems this place is really struggling to keep up with the crunch of the pandemic! Don’t be fooled by its location / perceived ambience, this place gets immensely crowded during the weekends with little or no attention to any Covid protocol. Add to that the rude and dismissive behavior of the staff! If I am paying 7 bucks for a cup of coffee then at least serve it with a smile!!
Also, a fair warning to all my POC sisters and brothers, if they somehow get to know that your origin doesn’t fit their perceived notions of the first world, be prepared to answer some fairly cringe-worthy questions, should you choose to oblige. On top of that, some of them are fairly clueless of letting you have your personal space if you are busy/remote working. Plus the skewed English communication doesn’t really help.
Also, be very alert at the cash counter, there is often a tendency to short change, not very professional! I guess they assume everyone has free cash to spare! Also the constant push to order more is fairly annoying. All in all since Google is forcing me to give a minimum of 1 star, I am bound by technological restraints, however, this place truly deserves 0 out of 5 stars.
The extended Nihonbashi area is a wonderful neighborhood chalk full of places with far superior service / quality and value for money. You’ll be better off giving those a try! (Don’t say I didn’t...
Read moreThe service was bad, the staff was rude. I went on Saturday, the underground floor was full, I took a seat on the 1st floor and bought my drink, then after it, the staff came to me say the seat I was sitting is only for people who staying the hotel. There’s no instructions at the entrance when I get in. After the staff kicked me out, I have no seat to finish my drink except sitting outside or one counter seat nearby the door. It’s cold in the winter. I won’t buy any drinks if I know there’s no seat I can use in inside. Why they didn’t tell me before I bought my drinks. Anyway, it’s such an uncomfortable experience. There is no empathy for customers when they just try to stick the rules to kick customer out. To be honest, the drink was just normal, nothing special. I won’t use it again. This area has lots of...
Read moreBerth was the 2nd attempt at a morning latte in the East Nihombashi area after being sorely disappointed at Bridge cafe. The lineup system at Berth is a disaster. There's nowhere to stand but the main throughway between the hotel desk, the front door and the stairs down to the sitting area. It took a few minutes to figure out how to form a line, then each successive person had to also figure out a way to order, all of us eyeing each other up to gauge whether we had ordered, were waiting or were in front of the person who just arrived. After ordering, you get pushed further and further away from the place the barista delivers the coffees so it's a ridiculous affair. The latte was so tasteless and sub-temperature that I took 4 sips and walked out. For the price,...
