Update: The steak my wife had today was dry, too hard and absolutely NOT worth 3500yen. What a rip-off. Atmosphere is still good and the burgers are great. But man, reduce the price for your steak. Ikinari steak makes better one's 😅

I had the Pancakes with Chicken for 2500yen. EDIT: Pancakes are 2600yen now. Overall it was quite good. First time I had these kind of Pancakes. I guess these are American one's. They have a very Cake like texture. Not bad, but also not great. Prefer the Japanese or European one's. The chicken was well seasoned, but they really gotta stop using chicken with bones. I want to cut the chicken and the pancake at the same time, and if they have bones that won't work. Kinda tedious. Now to the reason why I gave 3 stars only. 2500yen for these pancakes and chicken? God, that is WAY too expensive. Everything else is decently priced, so why the heck do these cost so much? I got it because I wanted to know why they charge so much, and I swear, I do not know why. It is at best "good", not more.

Anyway, GF had sirloin steak. She liked the seasoning, but was disappointed with the texture of the steak. It didn't mealt on her tongue as it should. The fries were not to her liking, but I liked it. She really liked the bread and butter that came with it though.

I’ve been coming here 1-2 times a year for 5 years or so. The last few years I’ve only been coming for their Thanksgiving plate but it’s gotten worse and worse.

Last night the turkey was so dry it was nearly inedible. Ham was dry and far too salty. Everything on the plate tasted like it was microwaved for too long. I can’t believe how bad the food was this year and I felt so embarrassed taking my Japanese coworkers there. I had to explain it’s not typically how turkey tastes. They were also sold out of cranberry sauce, which is essential for this dish.

Service was also abysmal. Every time I got the staffs attention the one waitress would send others to help our table. She even started ignore me and pretending she didn’t see me even though we made eye contact. The waitresses were hiding behind the pole near the bathroom laughing, chatting, and ignoring customers most of the time we were there.

I’ll definitely never be back to this location. I might try the pie only again at a different location but this place is just terrible now. How can the food go downhill so much?...

Bubby's or バビーズ ( you might see on the signs) is an American style restaurant in the heart of Futako Tamagawa. I ordered the lunch set burger that came with fries and a complementary grape fruit lemonade. The restaurant many small tables for seating and a pleasant dark wood and brick interior, equally easy to sit alone or in a small group.

I have to give praise to the fries that, while a little on the oily side, where great. They still had the peel on which added flavour and texture, they had a just perfect amount of salt and perhaps some herbs and they were finally soft and rich on the inside and lightly crisp on the outside. 🍟

The burger was just slightly pink inside, just like I like it, had good texture but not much seasoning which brought out more of the meat. The bread was a fluffy brioche, fortunately without that nonsense buttery flavour from lower grade products. Veggies were fresh and nice and the burger was finished with a spicy vegetable sauce. While I was not in awe, the burger must be said to be outstanding and I can't give anything but five stars. 🍔 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🍔
