Cafe MASU MASU — Restaurant in Tokyo

Café MASU MASU is located inside the EDO Culture Complex within the Kanda Myojin compound and has both a Japanese & English menu available so you can politely request for the latter if you're a foreigner.

The interior aesthetics and ambience music is traditional so its a nice and relaxing change from other places.

I ordered the Katsu Curry set with Matcha and Matcha Parfait for 1850円 and 950円 respectively. The Katsu curry meal comes with the katsu curry as the main dish, seaweed soup, and pickled daikon & garlic as the side dishes.

The pork cutlet was crispy and actually tasty enough to be eaten on its own while the curry was savory without any hints of spiciness.

The matcha set comes with a chasen(whisk) so you have the experience of preparing it the traditional way prior to drinking it, the matcha was smooth to drink and not as bitter as one would expect so it was very pleasant.

The matcha parfait was likewise not bitter and in fact quite sweet so it made the perfect dessert after the main course.

The only cons is that the food is slightly more expensive than other restaurants serving similar foods so budget...

神田明神の参拝帰りにちょうどお昼時だったので、ランチを食べて帰ろうと神社内の「MASU MASU」さんにお邪魔しました。 その日は、金曜日だったのですが、夜に盆踊り大会があるということで、アニメとコラボした屋台が出たり、いつもより人出が多かったのかなと思いますが、少し並んでようやく来店出来ました。 店内は若い層から年配層、また外国人旅行者など幅広いお客さんで満席でしたが、天井が高いからか、圧迫感は全くなくて、とても居心地が良く、ご利益もありそうだなと思いました。 入店した時間が遅かったからか、結構売り切れのメニューが続出していたので、早めの時間に入店されることをオススメします。

【Today’s Order】 九条葱とあぶり鶏のおうどんー柚子風味ー 950円 →焼いた九条ネギと鶏肉と刻んだお揚げが乗った出汁の味がホッとさせるうどん。 うどんの麺は比較的柔らかめでツルツルとしています。 上に乗った鶏肉は非常に脂が乗っていてこちらも柔らかい。九条ネギが、ネギ本来の甘さが引き出されていて、美味しい。

明神プリン　ー480円 →明神プリンがずっと気になっていて、ようやく食べられました。 ちょっと硬めな懐かしい感じのプリン。カラメルソースはそこまで苦くなく、脇に添えられたホイップクリームがすごく良い仕事をしています。 これはまたリピートしたいなと思います。

生ビール“神泡” おつまみセットー680円＋250円 →神社で「神泡」をいただくと、なんだかビールを飲むことでご利益があるような感じになりますね。ビールのグラスには、ちゃんと「神田明神」の名前も入っていて、オリジナルのビアグラス。 おつまみセットは、おうどんの上に乗る九条葱とあぶり鶏でした。 これはうどんの具と完全に被ってしまったので、ちょっと残念でしたが、ビールとの相性はすごく良かったです！

そんなに多くの神社に行く機会はないのですが、「神社カフェ」、私が今まで知っていたのは築地本願寺の「和カフェ Tsumugi 」さんくらいだったのですが、調べてみると、明治神宮や靖国神社などにもあるようですね。

神社内にあるからか、とてもご利益があるような気がして、ちょっと神社カフェを色々探索してみようかなと思いました。
