I recently had the pleasure of dining at Coco Ichibanya Curry in Akihabara, Tokyo, and I must say it was a fantastic experience. As someone who loves spicy food, I decided to go for level 3 spicy and I must say, it was perfect for me.
The restaurant's interior was cozy and welcoming, with a modern yet traditional Japanese décor. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring that my dining experience was top-notch. The menu had a vast array of curry dishes to choose from, and I was impressed by the variety of toppings available to add to my curry.
When my dish arrived, I was blown away by the aroma and the presentation. The curry was served in a large bowl with a generous serving of rice and my chosen toppings, and it looked absolutely delicious. I took my first bite, and I was immediately hit with a burst of flavor. The spice level was just right for me, and it had the perfect amount of heat without being overwhelming.
The curry itself was flavorful and had a perfect consistency, not too thick or thin. The toppings I chose added an extra layer of flavor and texture to the dish, making it a delightful and satisfying meal. I also appreciated the complimentary pickles and tea that were served with my meal, which added to the overall experience.
Overall, I would highly recommend Coco Ichibanya Curry in Akihabara, Tokyo, to anyone who loves a good curry dish. The food, service, and atmosphere were all fantastic, and I can't wait to go back and try more of...
Read moreGood curry that hits the spot. Nice, clean restaurant with a tablet ordering system that has multiple languages. There are lots of customizations, like changing rice quantity, spice level, adding toppings, changing the type of curry, and salad options with many customizations for toppings. They also have three types of salad dressings at every CoCo location.
Note, if you care about balance on your plate, do not add more than three toppings, or your plate will be crowded and you may feel that the meat/vegetable:curry sauce ratio is not what you like. I like lots of sauce, but I changed to beef curry (which adds a few pieces of beef), added fried shrimp, fried fish, and vegetables, and I felt that there could have been slightly more sauce. Basically, I ordered too much because I was hungry, and my solid:sauce ratio was not how I like it. That being said, I still enjoyed every bite!! They have some pickles on the side for free.
UTENSILS: the chopsticks AND SPOONS are on the table, just look for it in the box. There was a foreign couple beside us that was served their curry, and they didn't eat for a few minutes because they thought the server would bring a spoon. When they asked the server, the server showed them that the spoons are right there on the table. So, when the food arrives, help yourself with the utensils, and dig in 😋 Enjoy your nice Japanese curry 🍛

Read moreLast night in Tokyo and I love Curry Rice. It's located down the escalator on B1 (floor) and then at the bottom of the escalator do a U-turn. Took me a minute to find it. I thought it was delicious, and the service was quick and friendly. You order via ipad and after you are done eating you bring your bill to the check out counter. I saw someone was complaining about the service and I am not sure if they were just confused by how it works or what. Anyway, this is definitely a step up from the normal CoCo Ichibanya and I guess the prices reflect that. I had money I needed to spend so I wasn't paying too much attention to the prices. Given the current exchange rate though I wouldn't complain about anything with that either. The one thing I might say wasn't fantastic was the pork was little tough to cut. But it taste great. If you like curry rice 🍛 this is a good place for you. They had some other curry options that looked delicious but I didn't have a chance to try including omelets and Mac n cheese. Quick, Easy, and toasty. Not too high-end...
