Coffee Base MEGURO — Restaurant in Tokyo

I've walked by the construction everyday for a month, intrigued. I saw they started their soft launch in April 2023, so I wandered in to check it out.

Meguro has a growing number of specialty coffee shops, but not all of them are great. I went in with low expectations, but walked away feeling this might be one of the best shops already. I ordered the East Timor single origin and was the barista seemed a little timid. But I watched her control the pour nearly perfectly and the end result was a fruity, medium body cup of joy.

It was love at first sight when I first walked past this cozy café, open since May. Beautiful interior, great coffee, friendly staff, and outdoor seating. What more could one ask for? And a great place to bring the laptop and get some work done.

And their business keeps growing. Now from 6pm, the café becomes a bar with some craft beers, and they are now serving food, including a nice light breakfast, luscious deserts, sandwiches, and a dinner menu which varies day to day.

My only mild complaint is the wifi, which is a bit slow and times you out after one hour. Improve on this, and this...

Stopped in quickly to kill some time before a reservation and had a pretty pleasant experience. The menu is in English, so even if you don't know Japanese it's still an easy experience to order.
