We discovered this place by chance since we checked in at our hotel past 9:30pm (on Dec 21) and the restaurants inside were about to close (the last order was at 9:30 pm).
We ordered The Tokyo X High Quality Pork Loin and Pork Cutlet Set Meal. My preference was the Pork Loin because of the fat 😅.
It was easily the best tonkatsu we had. It melts in your mouth, and you don't even need a knife to cut the meat! That was how tender the meat was!
We've been to Ginza, Shinjuku, Shibuya, and other wards to have some tonkatsus, even paid higher prices, but it can't compare to this place. Essentially, our #1 pick when in Tokyo for tonkatsu.
Of course, the place is small and can accommodate only around 10-12 people at a time. But that should be expected in Tokyo. Service is great, too. We all enjoyed our meal time there. Oh, there's a table (only one) at the far end to accommodate any group...
Read moreabsolutely delicious place. they have an english menu and one guy working there spoke decent english; however, the person who sat us and took our order did not speak english at all so we had to play the point at picture game which is fine, but i do think the english menu was missing some of the regular menu items since everyone around us seemed to have gotten something else besides chicken.
still, the chicken we had absolutely the best katsu we had all trip. the gravy with the cabbage and everything was so well prepared. it was $14 for the set and it came with: chicken katsu, cabbage mountain, side salad, pickled veggies, rice, miso, matcha tea and this was at dinner time.
there is a line just about always (Google will say it's not busy, but it is) so plan accordingly!
highly recommend stopping by. I was staying in Meguro for 2 weeks and this was my most...
Read moreThis is by far the best tonkatsu I've had in Tokyo yet! Meguro is home to a bunch of excellent tonkatsu places, so this might have not been that big of a surprise. I got the pork fillet, so a leaner cut, but it pretty much melted once I took a bite. The breading was also so fluffy and perfectly prepared. Also, we felt like you get more food when you choose the pork fillet compared to the pork loin (I got 3 middle-sized pieces while the others got one single big pork loin piece). We arrived at 11:15 (the shop opened at 11:30 that day) and there was already a line - luckily we got a table, but it is quite the small shop, so good to keep in mind. Big recommendation for...
