It was a Saturday when my husband and I went to Ebisu to walk around and explore. As lunchtime approached, we both started craving カツカレー (pork cutlet curry), so we searched on our phones and found this restaurant that looked perfect for what we wanted.
When we arrived, it was around 1:45pm. There were already a few people waiting, about five tables ahead of us, so we joined the line. We waited around 15 minutes before a friendly waitress led us to our table.
My husband ordered an エビスビール(中瓶)(Yebisu beer – medium bottle), and for his main dish, he chose the 熟成 三元麦豚のロースかつ丼 (aged Sangenton pork loin cutlet rice bowl). I ordered the 熟成 三元麦豚のロースかつカレー (aged Sangenton pork loin cutlet curry).
All the meals here are set meals, which come with a cabbage salad and miso soup, and the best part, both are unlimited refills!
Our cabbage salad came first, with a cute little piece of tofu on the side. There were ポン酢 (ponzu) and ごまソース (sesame sauce) on the table, so you can choose whichever you prefer. We both liked our cabbage salad with ponzu, it was refreshing and light, perfect as a starter. The waiter even came over to ask if we wanted a refill! The tofu, topped with just a bit of wasabi, was simple yet elegant, smooth, fresh, and high-quality. We both really enjoyed it.
Then my ロースかつカレー (pork cutlet curry) arrived, together with a bowl of miso soup. The miso soup was rich and flavorful but not too salty, it warmed my heart instantly.
And the ロースかつ (pork cutlet), oh my goodness, it was incredibly サクサク (crispy) on the outside, yet not oily at all, and so tender and juicy inside! The curry had that comforting Japanese-style flavor I love, a little strong for me on its own, but when paired with the cutlet, it was just perfect. And the rice was cooked exactly how I like it, slightly firm and each grain separate. Together with the curry, it was unstoppable. The combination of the cutlet, rice, and curry, it felt like a little festival in my mouth!
My husband ordered the ロースかつ丼 (pork cutlet rice bowl), and since he loves the cozy taste of 親子丼 (oyakodon), this dish was right up his alley, the flavorful pork cutlet with sauce over rice and egg was rich and satisfying. The pork texture was slightly different from mine, a bit firmer in the center, but overall, with the sauce, eggs, and rice, it was still delicious.
We both left feeling very happy and satisfied after this wonderful meal. It was comforting, fulfilling, and full of flavour, the kind of lunch that brightens your day.
We’ll definitely come back again, and I highly recommend this place if you love カツカレー (pork...
Read moreStopped in for a quick, convenient lunch before my friend's train. It would be our last lunch together for a while 😢 Service was very efficient yet staff was polite and smiley. There was a special with pork, oyster and shrimp! Perfect! My favorites 😋 I was surprised by the olive oil that was brought out with my meal. It was recommended to be drizzled over the pork then sprinkled with salt. I enjoyed it very much as it really was a different flavor experience from my usual karashi/katsu sauce. The staff happily refilled my teacup many times without me having to ask. This meal was a good...
Read moreI went to the store by myself. There were two messed counter seats available, so the waitress asked me to wait for cleaning up and I said yes. BUT I was waiting for 10mins, and still she didn’t clean up yet! She just kept watching me if I was still there or not. I ended up waiting for NOTHING and left. What’s wrong with this lady! Don’t check what your customer is doing but do your...
