I recently stayed at Mustard Hotel in Shibuya, Tokyo, and I have mixed feelings about my experience. Let's start with the positives. The staff at the hotel were incredibly friendly, and they all spoke English very well, which is quite rare in Japan. It was refreshing to communicate easily with the staff and get any assistance I needed.

The location of the hotel was decent, being about a 15-minute walk from Shibuya Station and Scramble Square. There were plenty of bars and restaurants nearby, as well as a LIFE supermarket and a Supreme store, which added convenience to my stay.

The rooms at Mustard Hotel were spacious, and I particularly enjoyed the all-white minimal design. It had a clean and appealing aesthetic. Another unique aspect was that the hotel did not have frosted windows, unlike many hotels in Japan. This allowed for a clearer view outside, which I appreciated.

However, there were a few aspects of the hotel that disappointed me. Firstly, for "environmental reasons," they only cleaned the rooms every three days for "long stays." While I understand the intention behind this, it was inconvenient, especially since I was paying for the hotel as a three-star establishment. Additionally, the hotel did not provide any amenities, which I found disappointing.

The worst part of my stay was the design flaw in the window curtains. The room lacked curtains and instead had roller blackout shades. However, these shades were installed three centimeters too short from each side, resulting in sunlight seeping into the room from the sides, even when the shades were fully lowered. This meant that on sunny days, I was awakened by bright light as early as 6 or 7 am, which was far from ideal.

Considering what I paid for my stay, I found the lack of regular cleaning and the curtain design flaw to be disappointing. These aspects did not live up to the value for money I expected.

Furthermore, I would strongly discourage staying in Shibuya as a whole. While it may seem central, it is actually quite far from popular destinations such as Asakusa, Ikebukuro, and the Skytree. Additionally, getting around Shibuya can be a hassle due to the high population density, especially when navigating through Shibuya Scramble Square. The metro connections in Shibuya are not as extensive as in other parts of the city, which further adds to the inconvenience.

Lastly, during my stay, there was construction work underway to enlarge the square or other areas nearby. This made walking around Shibuya difficult and disrupted the overall experience.

In conclusion, while Mustard Hotel had friendly staff and a visually appealing design, the limitations in cleaning and lack of amenities, as well as the flawed window curtains, left me dissatisfied. Considering the inconveniences and the location in Shibuya, I would not recommend this hotel to others, especially if they are looking for a more centrally located and well-connected...

I stayed in a standard private double room at HOTEL GRAPHY SHIBUYA, which was a great choice overall for a short stay in Tokyo. This place strikes a balance between a hostel and hotel vibe, so if you’re okay with a minimalist setup, it can be ideal. The hotel is located in a trendy area of Tokyo, around a 10-12 minute walk to either Shibuya or Ebisu stations, so it’s super central. However, if you have a lot of luggage, I’d recommend taking a taxi from Ebisu, as the walk with heavy bags could be tiring. ||The property itself is very new, clean, and modern, and the price is quite reasonable for the area. In terms of space, the room is very small—definitely smaller than an APA hotel room. There’s no in-room bathroom or desk area, just a bed and a sink, so it’s best suited for two people with light luggage. For anyone planning a longer stay or carrying more bags, it may feel tight. ||Suggestions for Improvement: |• Raising the bed frame could create more storage room for bags, which would really help with the limited space. |• The sink in the room wasn’t all that practical. It might be better replaced with additional storage or even a small chair. ||Overall, HOTEL GRAPHY SHIBUYA is an affordable and well-located option if you’re primarily looking to explore Tokyo and need a clean, comfortable place to sleep. The room’s compact size makes it most ideal for short stays or travelers planning to spend most of their time out...

After a late flight into NRT, I missed Shinkansen to Osaka so needed a very last minute place to stay. Since it was 23:00, GRAPHY had a sale on Booking.com for that night. I emailed them late at night about some questions and they replied in 10 minutes. Weird thing when taking a taxi from train station was when the cab driver entered the address, it showed up as "Mustard Hotel" on GPS so he was confused for a bit, and I didn't know anything lol. I'm sure if I spoke/read Japanese I could have helped better. It was my first time staying at a hostel. I was pleasantly surprised to find the amenities were even nicer than "business" hotels I've stayed at in Tokyo! I stayed in a mixed gender bunk room with 6 other people. Lucky me, no one snored! The lockers were *very* small, I only left my laptop, wallet and electronics in there. Others had giant bags/luggage so those were left on the floor around the beds. Not a big deal. I got there at 24:00 and left at 06:00 so not sure what it's like during the day. The shared all gender bathrooms were also very nice. Great showers, plenty of free towels, fast drying hair dryers! The 7th floor had coffee, tea, cold water. Pool table, cute couches, nice terrace with relaxing lounge chairs. I recommend this place and would happily stay there again.

A truly amazing place to stay! I stayed here for two nights and there supreme double room in the middle of August, and everything was absolutely perfect. First, let’s talk about the rooms, the beds are incredibly comfy, well lit, very functional, with a great bathroom. My brother stayed in the dorms and he said the Hostel beds were very comfortable, and he slept very well at night. All the rooms have amazing air-conditioning. The staff was extremely helpful and attentive with everything we needed from them, very, very friendly, I can’t say enough good things about the staff staff at the front desk, the cleaning staff, the restaurant staff, and the Bar staff as well. What really surprised me was how delicious and innovative the food in the restaurant was, I ate the doughnut, fruit sandwich, as well as the salmon and shrimp, eggs Benedict, and everything was incredibly tantalizing ! So if you were thinking about staying here, just expect great food, a great room, a great staff, and the perfect location to begin your Tokyo adventure !

The staff were very friendly and very accommodating, one staff member helped us book a taxi at 3am to the airport when we struggled to find transport. The room was very clean and came with some free perks (toothbrush, toothpaste, water, towel and slippers). They offer free cleaning services everyday. The room was smaller than you’d expect if you’re coming from the west but if you know Japan the you’d expect this anyway. Shared bathrooms that were both mixed gender and female only was spotless and well equipped. The common areas were small but had many free to use serves such as : pool table, coffee machine with free coffee, hot water machine with a great selection of teas, microwave oven and free sweets. The location was perfect walking distances to 2 main train stations , 20 minute walk from Shibuya centre and plenty of shops around. We will defiantly be back and would highly recommend!
