The queue is too long during the weekend and you might have to wait for an hour in the cold. The atmosphere inside is also cold because the fans are on - I wonder was this supposed to be a Corona countermeasure ?
But the food is good, you can order 3 plate sizes and the small one is under ¥1,000. The chicken rice is very tasty and it looks healthy. The curry doesn’t have much meat or ingredients so it’s more like a side dish than main course if you’re hungry. There are many staff but water refill is not part of the service- I wish it was comfier to eat there but it’s mostly a fast turnaround...
This restaurant is located near Nishiogikubo station, but in a relatively quiet environment because the surrounding area (although there are several restaurants) is a residential area. It's a small restaurant with about 30 seats including terrace seats (all at tables), but it's very popular and always crowded, especially on holidays. The turnover of customers is not that bad (depending on the customers of the day), so even if you stand in line, you'll be able to enter and order without much of a wait. The main menu is "Hainanese Chicken Rice", a dish of rice cooked in chicken broth and topped with steamed chicken, which is a common dish in Singapore. There are also dishes topped with fried chicken as well as steamed chicken, but all of them are relatively healthy dishes, probably because they are tailored to Japanese people. The food is lightly seasoned for that reason, and while it's tasty enough on its own, it may not be enough for some people. There are a variety of sauces available as accompaniments, so if you pour or dip them into the dish, you'll be able to enjoy a variety of flavors. All the staff are women who seemed to live nearby, but they all work quickly and are very attentive to the customers. No wonder it is a...
Read moreI ordered the malaysian curry and roti set which came with acai (around 800 yen) and also ordered the otak-otak (around 400yen?). The taste was similar to otakotak at home but less a bit something, not quite sure what it is. Malaysian one usually more Orange coloured. Perhaps it is chili. The roti is good but I'm reminded of the one I bought in the frozen section of the malaysian good supply store at chiba. Curry has proper lemongrass taste. Would come back to try their fried hainanese chicken rice and see if it is as good as...
