Singapore Chicken Rice 🇸🇬🐓🍚 @hainan_jeefan_shokudo
Located about 5 minutes walk from Ebisu station, this restaurant is well known for its Hainan Chicken Rice, which is also the name of the restaurant. There are also branches in Azabujuban & Shibuya. 📍
As it is super busy during lunchtime I deliberately visited after 2pm on a weekday to avoid the crowds (last order is 14:30 and they close for lunch at 15:00). 🕒
I ordered the large size Hainan Chicken Rice and it arrived after just a couple of minutes. 💨
The boiled chicken was tender & moist and the large portion generous. There were 3 kinds of sauce - dark soy sauce (intense & sweet), ginger (peppery & tangy), chili (spicy & sweet). 🌶
The accompanying chicken broth is perfect for refreshing your palate when switching between different sauces. 🥣
However, the most impressive part of this meal is the beautiful jasmine rice. The rice is cooked using chicken soup stock giving it a delicate fragrance which pairs well with each of the 3 sauces. 😋
Visiting immediately after a gruelling boxercise session I had a huge appetite so took advantage of the free refills of jasmine rice and sauce, which is great value at this price. (¥1,250) 🉐
Service was friendly and very prompt, the staff regularly asking if I had enough rice/sauce, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was relaxed and welcoming. 🥰
Will definitely be back to try the Coconut Chicken Curry which also looks fantastic, together with some Roti! 🥘🔁

Read moreSingaporean here!!
According to the store owner they rarely see many Singaporean customers (except for a Singaporean working at the SG embassy who patronises them regularly?) so I thought this little shop deserves a little mention here!
Ive heard rly good things about this shop from a SG friend who lives near the shop but only decided to try it today. Hands down the most legit chicken rice I’ve ever tasted thus far in Japan - and tbh it’s on par or maybe even better than the chicken rice I love back in SG. The chicken seriously has the nice fragrance to it rather than just dry boiled chicken and the sauces are rly just on point. The chilli is mildly Spicy but u can adjust it to your liking by telling the store owner to give u the chilli- just so happen today’s sauce spicer than usual so it was rly good! The ginger is so good u could actually eat it by itself…..
Also tried their other dishes like the carrot cake & cereal egg plant and it was seriously good and had the Tze Char taste to it which got me so 感動 for a moment. Friend also tried the Sauce Pork Ribs and black pepper pork and according to her it’s rly good too. They have Laksa and Mee Siam and alot of other SG dishes as well.
Store owner is a Japanese guy who rly rly loves Singapore and been on many trips to SG just to research on the taste of chicken rice and other dishes. If u tell them you’re Singaporean he and his staff will be very delighted to chat and serve you (and you’ll get many サービス like free soup too 😆)
Also props to their hyper authentic SG decos LOL - idk where they got it but they managed to procure the white ugly SG ceiling fans with white tiles and random SG clothes hangers 😂 adds on to the...
Read moreWith 2 Singaporean restaurants in walking vicinity of each other, both have their work cut out for them.
Having now tasted and sampled both of their menus extensively, my recommendation is to come here for their Hainanese Chicken Rice and nothing else.
Love their unlimited oil rice and soup refills, the servings of chicken breast only sliced and deboned is a great way to enjoy this staple and important dish loved by Singaporeans.
If you are coming at night for dinner, I highly recommend reservations so you will not be disappointed. Also pay close attention to their lunchtime hours as it can get busy with...
