HUSKY CAFE TOKYO — Restaurant in Tokyo

Nobody’s fault especially since the dogs are still puppies, but the dogs are mostly sleeping and I doubt anybody without “special connections” would experience what you see on their Instagram like all the dogs all over you and etc. They only get up when you feed them very small amount of tiny treats and after that they’re back sleeping. (A treat packet is 500 yen and only 1 packet per person)

Also, there were 10 guests and only 6 dogs available. 1 dog was out but even with 1 more didn’t seem to be sufficient for the number of guests in the room to get ample time for everyone to really enjoy the dogs. I went with my 10yo daughter and mostly sat on the chair without any dog around while she actively move around the room to find dogs to pet. You’re supposed to be able to take pictures with the dogs if they’re awake and obviously since dogs are all sleeping, they don’t allow it.

Not their fault but this place is very far from the area I stay in Tokyo (2 train transfers) and will I come all the way here with the price and service level again? Probably no. The dogs were very cute though.

By the way, the entrance is very small low cut gate and you’d have to duck fully to the point you’d have to do Asian squat. It was hard for me to go through with my hip injury. (I didn’t ask for an alternative but hope they have some other way to let people in) I was also concerned if there was fire or earthquake how we would evacuate...

As of the time of this review, this location has the huskies in a concrete-walled basement with neon lights and pop music playing all day. It seems some attempt is being made to provide a tolerable environment for the dogs: the temperature was kept cool at 16 degrees and there were some ramps and toys for them, but no room to run around in, no windows to look out of, and no natural light. I found the whole scene rather depressing. What we're dealing with here is basically an unregulated zoo that places profit before the welfare of its animals.

I know this applies to many of the other animal cafes in Japan. My 2-star review isn't in comparison to other animal cafes, but rather born from the conclusion that animal lovers probably shouldn't be supporting these sorts of establishments. Zoos at least can claim to contribute to conservation through education and breeding efforts, these sorts of businesses have no such credibility.

Tokyo is already not a friendly place for these sled dogs, and sadly, I don't believe this business can offer a comparably nurturing environment to even the typical husky-owner's Tokyo apartment, especially considering this place is open...

もともと大型犬が好きで、Instagramでこのお店を見かけて、訪問を楽しみにしていました。 在籍しているわんちゃんたちは皆可愛く、とても癒されました。 ですが気になる点がいくつか...🥺😣 （改善されることを願い思ったことをそのまま書きます）

①料金が高い 言っては悪いのかもしれませんがアクセスがあまり良くない駅なのにも関わらず50分3,500円（おやつ代別途500円）で、建物の構造上トイレがバックヤード？にあり貸出の際に犬たちが興奮して寄ってきてしまうため、タイミングを見ないと使えないところに不便さを感じ、値段と見合っているのか疑問に感じました。 ちなみに駅前のコンビニはトイレの貸し出しをしていないので、駅中のトイレを使用することをスタッフに勧められました。 入場時間まではトイレの貸し出しは出来ず駅に戻るか、入場まで我慢するしかありません。 入場したらしたで他のお客さんへの説明のため待たされることになり、何だか後回しにされているような気分になりました。

大型犬6匹を有し、餌代や手術代なと確かに高額になるかもしれませんが、それにしてもなあ...と思ってしまいました。 オープンして間もないですし、犬カフェ兼ご自宅とのことなので仕方なさを感じますがこの立地でこの値段なのでもう少しお客さん側が利用しやすいように改築を検討されてはいかがでしょうか？ もしくはトイレを利用しやすいようにあらかじめお手洗いに行きたい場合は裏から回るようアテンドするなど、やりようはあるように感じました。 犬ファーストな姿勢には賛成しますし、高評価なのですが50分3,500円でこれ？というのは否めません。都内でもっと安くてトイレを自由に使える動物カフェの方が多いのではないでしょうか。

②犬たちへの対応について 犬たちへのおやつとして、500円もだしてドッグフード数個？というのに違和感を感じました。いくらパピーとはいえ大型犬6匹にしてはこちらはスペースが狭いですし（そこにさらに人間10人が入るためより狭くなります）犬たちが成長した時にどうするのかな？と不安になりました。 もしかすると普段から大きくならないように、小さい体でいる期間を伸ばすべく食事を満足に与えられてないのではないか、とおやつに対しての犬たちの興奮具合や、終了間近に犬たちがバックヤード側へ我先に行こうとしているのを見てそう感じてしまいました💦

チワワとハスキーのミックスのあんずちゃんはむちむちでしたが、他の子たちはほっそりとしていて、子犬なのにこの体型？と疑問を抱きました。 太り過ぎは良くないですが、普段の飼育状況が見えない分、こちらを安心させるためにももうちょっと犬たちをコロコロにさせて欲しいなと思いました。

③犬とのふれあいについて 大型犬の子犬、ということですごく人懐っこく元気いっぱい！な子たちとふれあいができるのかな？とワクワクしていたのですがおやつの時とバックヤードに気が向いた時すごく活発になり、それ以外は基本的におっとりしています。 最初の説明で子犬は18時間睡眠が必要、と言われていたので納得はしていますがおやつタイム、抱っこタイムと時間が設けられていて、カフェで触れ合うというよりかはまるで動物園のショーに近い感覚になりました。 犬たちが人懐っこくないわけではないのですが、そうやって区切りをつけるからこそお客さんに対して犬ながらにビジネスライクな態度をとっているのかなと感じました。 （おやつタイムが終わると体を触られないようサッと身を捩ったり笑） 正直な感想として、ここに限らず、道端を散歩している犬の方が愛想がよく接してくれるよなあ...と犬カフェに行くと常々感じます🤣 なのでこちらに伺う際にはわちゃわちゃふれあえることをイメージして行くと若干ギャップを感じるかもしれません。

長々と書いてしまいましたが、スタッフや運営川に不快に思わさせてしまいましたらすみません。 生き物を扱う犬カフェというビジネスは犬に負担をいかにかけないようにするか、もしくは少なくするか、とお客さんの満足度や求めているものを提供できるかのバランスがとても難しいと思います。 その中で今後も強気な値段設定とハスキーカフェという他にない魅力を全面に押し出して集客し運営していくのであれば、お客さんがこの金額を払っても納得がいくような営業を行っていっ...
