Ok let's cut the chase and go straight to the tonkatsu. In my honest opinion, it smell too porky the bad way. It's very dry and it shouldn't considered they use layered slices of pork. If it's kind of dry for Hire (fillet) katsu, it may be a little understandable. But it's Rosu(roast) katsu, there should have fats in it. Simply too dry. I believe any normal traditional Tonkatsu shop will have much juicier and tender pork loin than this. This is reinventing the wheel yet do it in the wrong way scenario. Food wise, rice is good. Cabbage is below my standard. Miso soup is okay. I could taste their effort to customize their tonkatsu sauce. Salad sauce is so so. Beef is not very tasty got to add salt... Other than the cheese version is good. I ordered both original and garlic, both are too dry and porky. Service is kind of sub par. They totally forgot my miso refill when they only has less than 5 tables filled. Calling the waiter is also quite tedious. Ambiance wise is good but too dark and hot at night. Japanese tend to put their air conditioning to the most eco friendly mode (almost non existent). I believe the restaurant had seen better days as I was recommend this place by a book. I also recalled television broadcast program about this style a few years back. Probably the chief chef have left the place. Probably they lost their bearing. I do not know. All I know is it's quite expensive and I'm not...

I was very excited to be able to order delivery meals from Kimukatsu via Rakuten Food Delivery. I've been having tonkatsu withdrawls due to not being able to eat in restaurants over the past several months because of the pandemic. The food arrived on time all the way to Zushi, it was all packaged impeccably, and it tasted phenomenal. I tried the cheese, ume shiso, garlic, and yuzu kosho stuffed millefeuille tonkatsu, and found the garlic and yuzu kosho to be by far the best, although none were bad. The ume shiso could have used some more shiso. I enjoyed that each meal came with a packet of both yuzu dressing and sesame dressing so there were options for the shredded cabbage. They accomplished my special request of leaving the mentaiko off of the rice which I was grateful for. Highly recommend utilizing their delivery service...

Such a disappointment - not because it was irredeemable, but because it could have been so much better.

First, we showed up a couple minutes after open for a katsu sandwich. We were told it would be a 20-minute wait as they had to fry it up. This was a bit weird, as their tonkatsu is their main draw and I would have thought it’d be ready, but not a huge deal. I wouldn’t even mention that if it was worth the wait.

However, when the sandwich was served, it was a paltry amount of katsu. The sandwich was mostly bread, as the pork took up maybe 50% of the possible area. It’s robbery to charge ¥700 for such a tiny amount of meat, despite the extreme juiciness and good flavour. Maybe the regular katsu dons are worth it, but I will not be returning...
