I discovered this charming little shop about a month ago. I've already returned three times. I grew up in Southern California. I lived through "Famous Amos," "Mrs. Fields," and my mother's, which were the best chocolate chip cookies. When I came to Japan (30 years ago), I could not find anything close to what I remembered. I have been to almost every cookie shop in Tokyo. I've tried making them myself (but the flour never seems right). When I found "Monsta Sweets," everything looked good. Individual cookies are a little expensive, but I thought, "I've got to give them a try."
I am happy to report that these are the best cookies I've found in Tokyo. The owner of the shop is an American, and he "gets" it. As soon as I eat them, I'm brought back to the warm memories of all the great cookies I ate growing up. This shop is the real deal.
The location is not the best, but in time I hope this shop grows in popularity and is able to become a bit more mainstream. On the other hand, its charm is that it is small and manageable.
The first time I went almost all the cookies were sold out, so I made sure I went at opening time the next time I went. The third time (today), I just took my chances, but it seems that the owner was on the premises and the cookies were being replenished. There were plenty on hand.
If you are a cookie connoisseur, I recommend visiting this shop. It is a little out of the way in that you can't just get out of the station and see it on the corner. And the cookies are a bit expensive. But they're good, so it's...
Read moreWe visited on a Sunday after snack time. When I visited at the same time in the summer, when the cookies were sold out, but this time most of the varieties were available, so I wondered if the number of customers had calmed down. This time, however, most of the cookies were available, so I thought that the number of customers had calmed down.
I got a red velvet...cookie and perhaps a seasonal bitter chocolate...kind of cookie. I apologize for not remembering the names well. The red velvet was neither sweet nor sour, but rather salty and tasted like a pancake. The chocolate one had a kind of berry sauce in it, but it was very rich and tasted not sweet but salty. It would have been delicious if I dipped it in milk. I heard that the green tea flavor my friend had was sweet, but neither of these two pieces I ate were sweet and really salty. I was craving something sweet, so I felt indescribable after eating them.
However, I was satisfied to be able to eat a foreign-like cookie that is hard to find in Japan! Thank you...
Read moreThe cookies here are THE BEST in Japan. For real. If you are into American style and soft chewy cookies, this is THE place. You found the one. Just go. It won’t disappoint you, I guarantee it. Go before everything sell out cuz they do sell out later in the day. The thing I love about their cookies are, of course, the flavor, but also how filled it is INSIDE the cookie. If you get chocolate chip cookie, it actually has chocolate inside too! Lots of it. I’m not kidding. I get this to myself but also for my friends too. I’m loving it so much that I’m becoming a Cookie Monster. Grrr. Btw if you stop by, try the drinks too. I had pumpkin spiced latte. Like, really!? In...
