PAN — Restaurant in Tokyo

I stopped by at 1 PM with no line. It's literally a corner shop on a five-way intersection with just a small window to order. There are two small benches under a small awning on the side that can seat up to about four people, with self-serve water and tissue available.

Pan has won an award in the non-traditional sandwich category. I ordered the traditional cubano for JPY 1400. A beef version is available for JPY 2200.

The cubano is served on two slices of focaccia bread with ham, cheese, some shredded pork shoulder, and a small dollop of mustard (I personally couldn't taste it). After the sandwich is built, it is lightly toasted in a sandwich maker and served. The focaccia is fine, but the pork shoulder seems non-existent, so flavor-wise, the sandwich is very ham and cheese forward, which makes it seem like a glorified ham and cheese sandwich.

I personally find the sandwich average at best, similar to what you might get at a place such as Bunk Sandwiches. The owner/proprietor was kind enough to provide fries and ketchup as a freebie, but given the distance and location, I cannot recommend a visit. この日蒲田を訪れたのはこちらのお店に伺うため。 こちらがキューバサンドの大会で優勝、つまりは世界一を取ったということで気になってすぐに伺いました。 インスタを見ると優勝されたのは2024/5/26ということでまだ取り立ての世界一です。

テイクアウトがメインと聞いていたので、その前には「和渦製麺」で腹ごしらえをした後でした。 実際に店に行ってみると、小さなテーブルはあるのでその場で食べられないことはないようですが、テイクアウトの方が多そうでした。
