I was able to successfully recreate a normal restaurant that could be found in Europe

In a positive way, I thought the restaurant successfully replicates an ordinary restaurant that could be found in Europe. The interior furnishings are not only the cooking oven. You can see that a lot of effort has been casually put into the décor. The table service is also well thought out and you could say that you are becoming an employee in downtown Europe.

Unique pizzas composed of two pizzas, with/without cheese.

Based on the location and position, we went in expecting a high-flying restaurant. In reality, however, the staff are friendly, attentive and explain everything to first-time customers. The interior design is reminiscent of downtown Italy, with walls, an open kitchen oven and a unique pizzeria menu with or without cheese. Due to its location, the restaurant seems to attract a lot of foreigners and regular customers, but we were impressed by the restaurant's courteous and pleasant service as well as the high...

We stopped by this place in the evening because the pizza restaurant we originally planned to visit was full. Luckily, this spot had a table for two available, so we decided to give it a try.

The Roman-style pizza was delicious! We ordered the Margherita, which had a thin, crispy crust—really tasty. As for the pasta, it was just okay for me, but if you like your pasta on the firmer side, you might enjoy it more.

The service was outstanding! The staff paid attention to every detail, were very polite, and even took care of our coats. They regularly checked in to see if we needed anything else, which left a great impression. Plus, they speak English, making communication easy.

The restaurant is located in a basement, and while it’s not very big, the atmosphere is cozy. I’d recommend this place if you’re in the mood to try some...

[English Review] Discovering Pizzeria Romana Gianicolo in Azabu-Jūban felt like uncovering a cozy Roman hideaway. Tucked downstairs just a three-minute walk from the station, the dining room charms with plastered walls depicting Roman streetscapes and understated Italian decor—an immediate mood-setter of authenticity.

Their signature Roman-style pizzas are baked in a century-old Mario Acunto wood-fired oven, yielding thin, crispy crusts with an inviting smoky aroma. A highlight was the seasonal “Lemon & Zucchini Pizza,” where the richness of cheese met zesty freshness in perfect harmony. The stone-baked Inca potatoes served as an appetizer were equally memorable—crispy outside, fluffy inside, with natural sweetness in every bite.

Led by owner Watanabe, a veteran from the prestigious Sabatini, and a chef with competition accolades, the restaurant offers talented craftsmanship in an intimate space of just 22 seats. It’s a setting where genuine hospitality and relaxed charm meet.

Reviews on platforms like iKyū and Gurunavi praise not only the delicious food but also the beautiful presentation and comforting hospitality—making it ideal for casual shared meals or a quiet evening with wine.

With lunch prices ranging from ¥1,000–¥1,300 and dinner around ¥5,000–¥6,000, along with set courses starting at ¥5,500, it’s accessible and versatile. The convenient location, just a short walk from Azabu-Jūban Station, makes it an excellent pick for dinner dates, lively gatherings, or solo indulgence.

I’ll definitely be back—planning to explore one of the fuller Chef’s Course or Special Course options next time—and savor more of that warm, Roman-style hospitality in a relaxed,...

I prefer Roman-style pizza with a simple thin and crispy crust, so I knew I had to try the pizza here. Most of the famous pizza joints around Tokyo serve Napoli-style crust, so when I came across Giancolo, I knew I had to try it. For starters, we had the imported Italian buffalo mozzarella, then the homemade oven-roasted Italian sausage. Both were very good and delectable. As for the pizza, we tried the Romana with anchovies, capers, and garlic, which was fantastic with a good distribution of toppings. Then we had the Diavola pizza with spicy salami and onions. We really enjoyed the pizza here. The price is reasonable and the ambiance exuded warmth and authenticity. Good friendly service. Buon appetito!
