Somen is a true gem. From the moment I walked in, I was enveloped in a warm and inviting atmosphere. The ambiance is elegant yet comfortable, making it the perfect spot for a special night out. But the real stars of the show were the food and the service.

I have to say, the ramen at Somen is hands down the best I've ever had. The broth was rich, complex, and bursting with flavor, while the noodles were perfectly cooked with just the right amount of bite. The toppings were fresh and thoughtfully selected, adding layers of texture and taste that elevated the dish to another level. And the dumplings? Absolutely incredible! Each one was a little pocket of perfection, filled with a savory mixture that was both satisfying and addictive.

But what truly set Somen apart was the exceptional service. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the food they were serving. They went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of my dining experience was perfect. From recommending dishes to answering my questions about the menu, they were always there with a smile and a helpful attitude. Overall, my experience at Somen was nothing short of extraordinary. The combination of outstanding food, impeccable service, and a welcoming atmosphere makes it a must-visit for anyone looking for a truly memorable meal. I can't...

Somen has delicious ramen and even more delicious Gyoza!

We went here for dinner on 3/26 (Wednesday) around 7:30pm and the place was hoppin'! We took the last two counter seats on the ground floor, but there was additional seating upstairs. Food came out fairly quickly, and the restaurant was basically across the street from our hotel (Tobu Levant), so the place is pretty convenient.

They have an English menu and the staff know enough English to have a conversation! They were very welcoming and friendly, and gave us recommendations for food and condiments once we got our orders. (The recommended peppery oil was really tasty and went well with both our ramen and Gyoza!)

The Gyoza were juicy and flavorful with crisp golden bottoms; they were simply delightful! (They do come out super hot, so take care not to burn your mouth! :p ) The ramen was delicious and had a nice balance of flavors. I'm generally sensitive to things being too salty (or too boring), and the ramen was not salty and not bland; it was just right!

We definitely recommend Somen for their delicious food and...

This was one of my best food experiences while visiting Tokyo! This spot was right across the street from my hotel, so I was intrigued by the nice front.

I'll start with the food. Very good size portions. I could not finish the broth - I hope the cooks take no offense. The pork was a good cut, along with some hearty noodles with just the right amount of chew. If I hadnt knocked back the beers beforehand, I would definitely have finished it.

The service was great! The girl working was patient with us (non-Japanese speakers) while we ordered. There's a bit of grace for tourists if you kindly try to communicate. If you're a local or know how to read/speak Japanese then you can conveniently order from one of those boxes. One of the employees tried speaking some Spanish with me which I loved!

The place is cozy. When I say cozy, yes it's small, but that's what makes the atmosphere so cool! Busy but not chaotic or cramped. This was a great spot, and I would absolutely recommend it to...

First time in Asakusa. Found this ramen establishment on my way to luncheon. Atmosphere just RIGHT, staff recommended toppings, sauces that paired well with their unique dishes. Don't worry if you do not know how to order via vending machine. Their friendly, understanding staff will assist you with a physical copy of their menu and take your order from there! I highly suggest ordering their "Gyoza". Cooked freshly on the spot and on a pan that is served directly with a thermal insulator on the bottom. With their special ramen on the side, extraordinary soup base, if I may add. Together with their homemade black sauce. Note: They have additional rooms than the front deck. Don't worry about the tight space on the outside, but just go in and dine! Great customer service, too!

A hearty restaurant serving soup ramen and tsukemen. They have shoyu (soy sauce), shio (salt) and miso base flavours, and you can order extra gyoza for a side should you wish. I had a shoyu ramen and the broth was packed full of umami from the dashi, not just a plain ol' shoyu. It was delicious and I savoured every last drop. The atmosphere and vibes of the place is upbeat and cheerful with a great selection of music. It was fun even as a solo diner to eat while listening to it. The staff are incredibly friendly, and do their best to attend to every customer's needs and have some light conversations. I received a member stamp card at the end, so I must go back again soon and fill up the card 😄
