The coffee was what I would expect from a Starbucks location. The thing that annoyed me was the staff’s attitude. Whenever I have gone to a Japanese Starbucks, I have had nothing but positive experiences. I typically buy a lot of merchandise. This was no exception. Last week, I bought nearly ¥9800 worth of products, including the fall Japanese tumbler. I was not given a drink voucher, so I inquired about it. They were very resistant and basically said it’s not possible, since it’s labeled as a bottle. I can read enough Japanese to see that it does say that. However, on the side of the box description it clearly states tumbler. That was their reason for refusing to give me a drink voucher. Maybe they honestly believed that, but it came off as very very stingy. This is more about principle than anything. As an extremely loyal Starbucks customer, this really rubbed me the wrong way. I went to another Starbucks in Odaiba and bought a grande cold cup which was worth only half of what I paid for the insulated tumbler. They gave me a drink voucher with no attitude or issue. If Japan did not do drink vouchers, that would be fine. It’s just a nice perk. But, since it’s offered, I do expect to receive one for a qualifying product and not to be made to feel as if I am making an unreasonable request. They might need clearer training on what those products are.
*photos added to show where it says bottle in Japanese and a section underlined to show tumbler in English. I am emphasizing this, because that was their justification for denying the drink voucher. They were very...
Read moreI visited at 7 am (on the dot) on August 7, 2025.
So I order my drink with non-fat milk and no foam at every Starbucks every time I visit. Some Starbucks get it right, and really make sure that there is close to no foam (you can feel it in the weight of the cup). So anyway, it’s normal when baristas leave a lot of foam too, and so I always go back and they tend to redo my drink.
On this day, there was a lot of foam… However, when I gave my cup back to the barista, she proceeded to take a spoon and skim off the foam on the top and hand me back my cup. I was shocked.
I worked at a Starbucks for a year in 2019, and I remember it was protocol that you redo the drink (for hygiene purposes also). And to every Starbucks I’ve been to since, when they see there’s heaps of foam in my drink, they make me a new one. They never skim foam off the top with a spoon.
So then I asked if she could please fill up the remainder with milk- as a third of my cup was now empty. With a tight smile she went ahead and did that.
So I said thank you and took my drink and went upstairs only to sip it and find that she had filled the remaining portion with full cream milk and not non-fat milk… (you can taste the difference).
So yes, the barista working that morning didn’t have her head in the game.
Really disappointing. I will not return at 7am on a...
Read moreI have been there 3 times with my Tumblr and 3 times they served me a coffee that didn't fill completely the size of my Tumblr (PS: my Tumblr is a tall size, my order always mentioned a tall size, but the coffee inside only filled 2/3 of it while in other Starbucks it is fill almost to the top of it). And today I decided to write a review because my coffee tasted like burnt coffee. I am disappointed by those 2 issues. On the other hand, the place is nice and the service is good, I only complain about the coffee...
