I was just there a couple of days ago, craving Mexican food. The service itself was okay, but good. Nothing really outstanding. The location was great, on the 2nd floor, overlooking the street, filled with great shops and cafes. The ambiance definitely was a very good Mexican theme, down to the place mats of La Jolla, California. And now for the food. The portions were good and I was surprised that they offered combination plates with rice and beans. I guess since they also catered to Japanese tastes, the beans were okay, but I added a bit more salt and the hot salsa they had gave it a bit of a kick. Being raised on Mexican food since I was a kid, the beans could have been a bit more thicker. The rice was okay, but a bit dry. I also added a bit more salt to that, too. And now for the main course. I ordered the chicken burrito, which was quite filling and good. I really liked that it was served with cheese and somewhat of an enchilada sauce like sauce. This made the burrito more enjoyable. I'm use to my Osaka El Zocalo mission style burrito, which is the bomb, but this burrito was very good. I had a very good Mexican beer to go with it, and it worked well together. The price for the whole thing was just above 2,000 yen. A bit expensive for my liking. However, the fact that the beer was around 780 and the combination was 1280 in Tokyo was kind of justifiable. Also considering that there's no tipping in Japan was okay, too. I might go back again, but might skip out on the beer. I would advise anyone going to get there at opening time, because the place starts to get busy after 12 pm. The place was easy to find, just as long as you stay to the left of the street and not miss the...
Read moreAtmosphere and service ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ It is a quite relaxed and casual place to have lunch or dinner with some friends apparently. It is colourful and feels lively. It is probably what we shall expect from a Mexican restaurant. It is not a Tex-Mex restaurant. We came for lunch by the way. The service was fast. An alternative was quickly found for my seafood allergies. Water refill was prompt and felt spontaneous. Briefly said, a 5 stars services.
Food ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Tasted great! The meat in the beef tacos was flavourful and perfectly seasoned. The corn tacos was really tasting corn. Definitely one to try if you come by. Loved the beans paste served with the enchiladas. It was a beef enchiladas but the issue was there was no texture at all. All was so well grinded that it was just like a soup in your mouth. Not sure if it should feel that way. There is also the thing with tomato sauced rice. I am not sure what it brought to the meal. However taste wise, it was another big hit! Balance of taste and spiciness was spot on.
Did it worth the money? ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Mostly yes. Nearly 2500 for lunch? That is what I would call an expensive one. But it was the Golden Week and we were really craving for authentic Mexican food so why not? Service and food was good and I m sure their cocktails are as good as what I imagine. But I leave that to my imagination as we haven't...
Read moreI was visiting Japan from San Antonio, TX and when doing my research of the city I noticed a few Mexican restaurants. Of course being the Hispanic I am I had to try it. I had the fajitas and enchiladas and they were yummy. I was excited about how close to an actual Mexican taste they got. I knew it wasn't going to be like home but it was familiar and comforting. I wish I remembered our waitresses name but she spoke to us in Spanish and English... That was awesome to me. Plus, to make matters even better, they had Mariachi music playing the whole time. I loved it. As far as decor goes, but it doesn't matter, just me being picky, I had joked that I was going to bring them papel picada to hang in there. Kinda wish I had lol. My daughter plans to move to Japan in a few years. When she does and she's missing home, all she'll have to do is go there and enjoy the food and atmosphere. It won't be home but it'll be extremely close. Great job and thank you for encapsulating my...
