I don’t leave reviews often and I do feel guilty about writing this one, but I had the unfortunate experience of going to this restaurant a few days ago. There are plenty of choices for omakase in Tokyo and I genuinely would not recommend this one at all. In general omakase is (in my opinion) way too overpriced, but this one was absolutely beyond not being worth it. There were a swath of issues during my visit, but I’ll keep it brief with two (one petty and one unforgivable at an expensive place like this). The first is the bonsai they have behind the counter is obviously fake; very tacky and a bad first impression upon entering (as I said: petty). The second is that for most of the sushi we received, the chef did not even cut the fish in front of us! The fish was precut and taken from a box he took out from a fridge behind the counter. The whole point of omakase (from my understanding) is to watch it be prepared in front of you. If the process of preparation is simply pulling out a slice of fish, putting it on some rice, and then wiping some soy sauce on it with a brush I would recommend just going to Sushiro or any other kaitenzushi restaurant. The quality and taste of the fish was good, but the experience (and the amount of food) was simply abysmal for the price. And I don’t even need to begin to mention the occasional bickering and unprofessionalism of the...
Read moreWorst experience ever. Wouldn’t give a yen to this place. And I am truly sorry to say it! Service and staff: unprofessional & rushy (yet polite - regarding this I cannot say anything bad). It was clear that they wanted to finish as soon as possible so all the service/ dining experience has been horrifically fast (you call this “fine dining”???). Explaining the dishes POINTING at the food nearly touching it? Atmosphere: zero zero zero. Loud, seems like you’re having dinner in a supermarket, very Cheap looking. Food: VERY disappointing. Probably the most unsatisfying sushi that I have ever had. 40k yen? For what?
We were very looking forward to have dinner here. Booked a table at 9 pm, they said service was going to finish at 10 (11 pm on website!) I’m not ever min they delivered us all the food without even giving the time to CHEW THE FOOD. They arrived with the dessert and the tea when miso soup, cocktail and sushi was still on our table). If at 10 pm the restaurant is supposed to be closed, then why tabelog allow people to book at 9 pm?
Not even at 10 pm they brought the bill. To be honest, I was happy to leave. Not worth a penny and definitely it does not deserve to be on Michelin guide....
Read moreWe found the area easily via Google Maps but the sign for the restaurant was in Japanese. Fortunately my wife can read Japanese so she saw the restaurant name quickly and we knew we were at the correct building. We went up the elevator and entered the restaurant. We were only verbally greeted by the host/waiter and two blank stares from the chefs behind the counter. I immediately thought that this was a sushi bar where local regulars frequented and didn't really welcome out of town visitors. Regardless, I was willing to give it a fair shot and tried to have an open mind.
I found and rsvped this restaurant via Tabelog and read additional reviews on Google. It was promising but we had our doubts as some of the reviews weren't great, so we went in without too many expectations.
The omakase course we reserved was the middle priced and the most popular course which was JPY16,000. I'll be very honest, the course was okay but the value was not there and I would not go back for a second dinner. There are too many other sushi restaurants that I want to try. I also didn't take any pictures as I didn't feel impressed with the...
