We visited the museum during the daytime in August, using a regular entrance ticket. The view from the sky over Shibuya is spectacular and you can see 360 degrees over the city of Tokyo. It is a view that is hard to find anywhere else.
*Access
The building is directly connected to and directly above Shibuya Station, making it very accessible. It is very easy to get there from all lines. For the JR line, go through the JR Central or JR South ticket gates and proceed toward the East Exit. For Tokyu Toyoko Line and Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin Line, exit the Shibuya Hikarie 1 ticket gate and proceed to the right. For Tokyu Denentoshi Line and Tokyo Metro Hanzomon Line, exit through the Miyamasuzaka Central ticket gate and proceed to the left. For Tokyo Metro Ginza Line and Keio Inokashira Line, exit through the ticket gates and proceed in the direction of Shibuya Hikarie. Anyway, go to the first floor of Scramble Square. From there, use the elevator or escalator to the 14th floor where the window is located. There is an entrance gate on the 14th floor. From the entrance gate, use the special elevator to go to SHIBUYA SKY. The entrance gate is located on the 14th floor, so you can use the elevator to get to the SHIBUYA SKY. The entrance gate is located only on the 14th floor, and it is easy to get lost.
The recommended course is to take the elevator from the 1st floor to the 14th floor, After enjoying SHIBUYA SKY, After enjoying SHIBUYA SKY, take the escalator down to the 14th floor and visit the various stores. Not only are there permanent tenants, but there are also pop-up stores, so even though I work in Shibuya, I never get tired of the stores.
*Customer service The customer service is average. I don't get many opportunities to receive customer service in the first place. The building is structured, and you can move around freely.
*Cleanliness It is very nice and clean. It is also a new facility that was built in 2019.
*Ambiance. It is quite lively. There are many tourists from overseas as well as Japanese. The admission fee is not cheap, so I got the impression that there were not so many ill-mannered visitors.
*Notes Tickets can be purchased online or at the counter on the day of the visit, but it is quite difficult to get tickets, so we recommend making reservations one month in advance (the same day of the week four weeks in advance). Web tickets are 2,200 yen for adults and 1,700 yen for junior high and high school students. Elementary school students and infants can only be purchased at the counter on the day of the event.
In addition, restrictions on what you can bring are surprisingly strict, Luggage such as bags, backpacks, pouches, etc. Tripods, monopods, selfie sticks Earphones, headphones Hats, caps, knit caps Food and beverages Items that may scatter or fall will be instructed to be placed in lockers. Of course, hazardous activities and dangerous items are prohibited.
*Scenes of use It is good for all occasions. I thought it would be fun for a single person, a family, a partner, or a group, and it would be a great memory because you can take pictures. There is also a bar on the rooftop, so it might be suitable for special occasions.
*Points for improvement Because of the free-moving design, it was a little difficult to find the route and we almost missed the exhibits. Also, I heard that there is a survey form where you can get a sticker, but I missed that too. I thought it would be better if the navigation was a little easier to understand.
*To the facilities Thank you for creating a new kind of spot, on an impressive scale. We are planning to...
ย ย ย Read moreThis place would be hard to get tickets for without a reservation. Remember it sells all of its tickets on the first of any designated month youโd like to visit! I would say it must be hard to get the tickets (it was a gift) which could diminish the star rating. However, the durability would be worth the tickets because of how nice this place was. The view was stunning, and eradicating the thought of the blazing sun, it was such an enjoyable place! The drinks and food order-able were fun and the photographs taken by professionals on the roof was fun.
This was all amazing. So so so amazing I wonโt decrease my choice in stars. But, after getting oneโs professional photo taken, the party who received the photo is able to take the photos of their own. I think that since there is a whole cue waiting for the photographer, it would be more advisable to limit the time given for personal photography. Some people had to spend 4-5 minutes to take pictures, further holding up the line. Though the photographer eventually stepped in, a time limit would be advisable.
As well, some people were clearly trying to scheme the place. As an advocate for fairness and justice, I think that what some people were doing was downright wrong, and should be solved by the Shibuya Sky Team. Some people would stay at the cafe area for long periods of times, presumably waiting for the sunset. Though I think itโs also crazy to wait 5+ hours to prevent buying expensive sunrise tickets, some people decided to do this, and should be stopped. As well seating at the sky cafe was limited, but some people were being inconsiderate of other peopleโs space. I think staff should work harder to ensure everyone can enjoy their experience at Shibuya Sky, and not be limited by rude customers with no social etiquette.
Regardless, this was by no means the staffโs fault and I appreciate the workers for working so diligently in the heat. The area of Shibuya is amusing and the view is spectacular. I believe that if the problems within the customers can be hindered, the experience can become even more wonderful.
But, donโt let the negatives discourage coming here! Itโs certainly worth checking out if you come to Tokyo, and the positives certainly outweigh the...
ย ย ย Read moreShibuya Sky is one of Tokyoโs most popular observation decksโand for good reason. Perched atop the Shibuya Scramble Square building, it offers jaw-dropping panoramic views of the city that stretch all the way to Mt. Fuji on a clear day. I booked my ticket two weeks in advance from Canada, aiming for the golden 4 PM slot to catch the sunset glow, but it was already sold out. I settled for 2 PM, which still gave us stunning views and plenty of photo ops.
The entrance process was smooth, though we had to wait a few minutes before heading up. Once inside, it was clear we werenโt aloneโtourists from all over the world were packed into the space, each trying to capture the perfect shot. While most people were respectful, some treated the observatory like their personal photo studio, hogging prime corners for extended photo shoots while others waited patiently. It was a bit frustrating, but we made the most of it.
I visited with friends from Tokyo, and we had a great time exploring the rooftop. Thereโs a playful vibe up top, with faux grass, hammocks, and sleek design elements that make it feel more like a sky park than a traditional observatory. My kids loved running around and soaking in the viewsโuntil one moment of unexpected drama when a tourist from the U.S. yelled at my child for playing near him while he tried to nap. Ironically, thereโs a sign that clearly says no napping, which made the whole situation oddly comical.
Thereโs a rooftop bar that adds to the chill atmosphere, but unfortunately it wasnโt open during our visit. Still, the surrounding area is packed with shops, restaurants, and the energy of Shibuyaโs famous scramble crossing just below. Itโs a great place to explore before or after your visit.
Tips:
โข Book earlyโespecially if you want sunset views. โข Be prepared for crowds and long waits at photo spots. โข Donโt expect quietโitโs lively and social. โข Bring water and wear comfy shoes (youโll be walking and waiting). โข And yes, no napping allowedโeven if someone insists otherwise!
Despite the chaos, Shibuya Sky is a must-see. The views alone are worth it, and the experience is uniquely Tokyoโdynamic, beautiful, and just a...
