Tatsuro Sushi — Restaurant in Tokyo

It was the best sushi my partner and I had during our 2 week stay in Japan. If you are staying in Shibuya or Shinagawa, I recommend you take the short trip to enjoy this amazing Omakase. We ordered the special Omakase and enjoyed it with a sweet sake. They accept reservations in advance in English online via email (check their website or ask your hotel to give them a call). Our sushi chef was the funniest and most kind person we met on our Japan trip. The staff explained what every single item served was in English and made sure to ask us not just about food allergies but also about foods we did not like. The fish was fresh and delicious with good instructions given on when we should / should not season our sushi with soy sauce/wasabi. I also appreciated the amazing food knowledge of the chefs who explained to me where certain special ingredients were from in Japan. They even gave me recommendations on what to eat in one of the cities on my upcoming itinerary. Beautiful people...

One of the best omakase experiences we’ve had in Tokyo. The sushi were very fresh and delicious, and there was a good mix of more “traditional” sushi such as ootoro, and more interesting sushi with unique flavors such as a smoked sushi. The chef and all the staff were very friendly and welcoming, and tried their best to converse using translation. The chef was very kind and attentive, and he even asked which was our favorite sushi at the end of the meal so that he could give us an extra bite sized piece of it. Overall a great experience with amazing food. It is slightly far from central Tokyo, but it is 100% worth the travel. It is convenient to get to from the train station. My partner and I wanted to end our 6-week trip to Japan on a high note, so we treated ourselves to a memorable dining experience at Tatsuro Sushi. Located about a 30-40 minute train ride from central Tokyo, the journey is well worth it. Plus, it's a refreshing escape from the crowds of the city.
